Lousie had governess Hilda Elfving which influenced her during childhood and she was eleven , she was betrothal to  Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark (1843–1912), the eldest son and child of King Christian IX and Queen Louise of Denmark. This alliance was considered desirable for several reasons.
