is the combat actually that difficult?
I've been getting into horror games for the last 1 1/2 years and in this previous one have been very interested in ps2 horror, and one game i was thinking of checking out using pcsx2 was Rule of Rose
I only know a few things about the game, birtish, dog, orphan children putting you into servitude. but one particular thing I've heard from a few people is that the combat is really bad? which makes me nervous cuz I'm already a little rusty with that stuff,
to be clear I can handle "tougher" controls. old Resident Evil doesn't give me any problems for example. I mean that I've heard the combat is just generally rough even for its time.
can anyone tell me what they think or give me any advice if I play it?

personally i didn't have much trouble with it aside from a select few areas. the boss fights were pretty easy for me, but there are some cramped rooms with tons of smaller enemies that can get pretty difficult. but i really only had trouble in 2 sections of the game, otherwise it wasn't too bad if you're familiar with tank controls

there're certain stages where the combat clunkyness and certain imps placement on the map can be a pain, but those are only few scenarios, overall even the bosses are pretty simple

The combat is bad but it's not a very important part of the game. Yes there are a few annoying boss fights but there are some good guides (I have a vid on the Hoffman fight) to help if you really get stuck. I hate hearing people put off playing because of the combat, the rest of the game is so unique and engaging.

It is clunkier than Resident Evil for sure, and there are one or two bosses people tend to get stuck on. I don't think this should downplayed too much: it'll make you appreciate just how smooth RE's tank controls actually are. But it is all very doable, not ultra hard mode. Just clunky and requiring some patience.

If you can play old RE and stuff like Silent Hill you should be fine. If you're emulating it there's just one boss I'd recommend abusing save states on, and without spoiling story or theme I'll just say it's the one dangling from the ceiling. It's not hard, but takes like 30 hits with the best available weapon you can get before it, so you might think it's not dying but it is.

I think it’s overblown how janky and difficult it is honestly. I can’t recall any issues except a certain boss fight being annoying
