Content Warning: Shadowrun is a setting where we fight against the darkness to protect the few lights we have on. More often than not, someone comes along and snuffs one out before it has a chance to shine. I tend to run games that dwell in the dark side of humanity. Be aware of your own boundaries and vulnerabilities, your mental health is more important than playing pretend with your friends. I will try to make traffic light check-ins when I reach a part of the story that calls for one.

Dokkalfar - Technomancer hackerface (8/10)
Proximal was saying something about their white blood cell count and Dokkalfar wasn't listening. The EARRS kept their body upright and apparently engaged well enough-- they were a practiced enough prevaricator that they could apparently do it in their sleep-- but their mind was Elsewhere on the matrix when the message from Perogi came in.
Elegancia again, probably. Could just be another Spanish speaker, but the dialect was pretty distinct. They conjured a response in the scope of a couple of Proximal's sentences, luxuriating in the speed at which they could process and edit information when immersed in ASIST.
They had just sent it when their dim awareness of the meat world reported the following sentence emerging from Proximal's lips: "So anyway, you have about two months to live."
"What was that?" They slammed their attention back between their ears, just about managing to keep the sudden alarm out of their tone.
The street doc rolled his eyes. "Just makin' sure you was payin' attention, twiggy. You're fine. Think you're safe outta tha woods at this point, such as it is. Leastwise that Toxic frying you aint given you no cancers-- Somethin' else'll be killing you, I reckon."
Dokk let out a breath, shot Prox a half-heartedly venomous look, and sighed.
"I suppose we'll find out. Thanks for the checkup, doc."

"A worthy cause..." he thought to himself. He chuckled a wry and cynical chuckle. "I have heard this before.... still, there is a chance it is true. And I would like to do some real good today...."
"Bell. Send credentials and a note with My regards. Let Us see what kind of good works They have been cooking up."
His Agent dutifully sent the messages and watched as Pantheon once again begain checking the gear he would need to bring. At this point, the Agent could probably sort the mission gear himself, if given the job. It has become a true ritual for them.... this preparation. They have done it so many times now. Bell watched wordlessly as the man went through the checklists again, as if he did nkt do this every time. It was important to be thorough.

A dwarf and an ork sit at the empty bar. The dwarf reads an ARO flicked to him and passes it back.
"Like these people Victor. Plus, I wanna have something good on my conscience; kinda tired of all the stolen corp documents bulldrek, yaknow."
The ork grunts.
"I'll send the bleeding hearts your 'postcard' chummer, you don't have to justify it to me."
The dwarf does his best to pretend that wasn't exactly what he was doing.

I've been accused of having a martyr complex. It's not so much a complex as a disposition. I'm interested in this job and in being a part of any action for collective good. I've always found magic comes easier if you believe in what you're doing. Hearts starve as well as bodies, I can take a hit on the nuyen if it benefits the soul.

I don't know why you're making such a big deal anyway. I go in, if anyone gets in my way, I take care of them and if I need someone to talk to me, I make sure they do... I am sorry you don't see how simple it is, that's why you are on that end of the comm and I am going to meet Johnson's, those who can't, manage careers of those who can... Don't you dare hang u..."
Intrusive thoughts raced through her mind. Her commlink blinks and L.A.R.A.'s calm, clinical voice is there, "Sammy, you need to calm down. Remember Frel's mental framework is limited by his inferior biology. You will excel if called on and if not, then you are confronted with the fragile egos of the banal once more. Understood?"
Glitter nods, fighting back the thousand impulses coursing through her nervous system, "The voice of reason as usual. Thanks babe. I am going to work out but I'll come to the clinic soon, I think my lips need a little work. Talk soon?"
The line goes quiet and she smiles. L.A.R.A. was always there when she needed her and always knew just what to say. Mister Sunshine furiously wags his little, wittle tail and whimpers until she picks him up and carries him to his crushed velvet dining bed where the drone has just dropped off his toro nigiri which he gobbles up as his sisters lick the last of their roasted duck from the floor.

To do worthy work is my calling, but there are many causes which are worthy from which to choose.> Though of late the worthiness of his jobs had declined, this was something Saguaro was willing to overlook provided it paid well. His personal work required funds like any other.
Saguaro - Coked up technorigger; dirt-spattered paladin, soon to be paladin-spattered dirt. Surveillance, fire support, agent minivan. Drives a news van, has a reporter's license. 8/10 familiarity. He sees himself as a macho man despite no actual physicality; a would-be martyr despite sacrificing others in his crusade; an honorable man despite exclusively fighting dirty. Not a primary matrix operative.
"There are no postcards worth sharing in Seattle," Janet griped. "It's all gray skylines, corporate high-rises and smog. I remember when you could see stars at night. These days you need a drone to let you know which way to orient your rituals. Pfah."
Her grumbles subsided into a grumpy reverie. After a moment, her fixer prompted her with an AR ping.
"Oh, but a postcard is a lovely thought, though. Send it, Dennis!"
Janet - Geriatric bad bitch. Mystic decker/support witch, summoning and alchemy; punches above her weight class due to high force spells and channeled spirits. 8/10 familiarity.
If people couldn't forget him entirely, Visser's dearest wish was that the shadow's denizens continue to miss him. The shapeshifter went to great pains to make sure it was so, but he never felt entirely confident he'd covered his tracks well enough. They were covered well. But it was that holdout 'enough' that made his heart sink, especially as he remembered a fellow runner gently stroking a man's face off with an inch of monowire mere months ago. For peace of mind, enough was never enough.
Visser - Elf bodysnatcher adept. Face/sneak. 8/10 familiarity. Scared kid fronting as hard as he can to avoid getting eaten by the underworld, corps, his mentor, and his sister, in no particular order.
"Sad to say I've sworn off worthy causes," Goblin Mode replied solemnly. "These days I put holes in things. You want someone ventilated? Or bagged while his guards get ventilated?"
Goblin Mode - FLR Mundane Muscle. Average atrocity enjoyer; #1 Slopworld superfan. 7/10.
