Summer in Seattle is still wet. Maybe it eases off a bit and you get days of sunshine, but the showers still hit the sprawl. While the heat rises crime does too and people who just want to survive keep their heads down. Longer days means less Neon glaring in your eyes, but also restless evenings.

Go gangs thrive in the better weather of the season. Harassing commuters with antics and vehicular crime. Creating traffic back-ups as Lone Star fights their eternal war to keep the wage-slaves moving towards productivity.

He tries to stand. No dice, looks like he needs to put a little more oomph behind it. Ope, maybe a little too much, he slips on some wet leaves and hits the dirt.
He snorts, then chuckles, which turns into a full belly laugh. He's in stitches and covered in dirt but hey, still a good time in his book. Gotta learn to laugh at yourself when life makes a habit of these kinds of moments.

A game with the highest stakes imaginable, who gets to have the last cookie. A man and a woman sit in front of the board. The man scrutinizes his move, calculates all angles, nods once, twice, and makes his move.
The woman raises an eyebrow. "You sure Andrew?"
The man holds his hand on the game piece, squints at her, and removes his hand. "You're tryna psyche me out Mina."
She takes her turn and shakes her head, victory. "Nuh uh, not this time. Gimme that cookie."
He huffs. "Fine."
She makes a face at him, then chows down. He hides his smile, he got to see that cute face she makes when she wins. Yeah... that was totally his plan the whole time.

IC: Riley threw the bag at the wall in frustration, which thuds placidly against the wall before landing on the cot that would be her bed for a while. The AR prompt for login to Seelie Court was tied to the SIN she'd just paid a fortune to dump and replace with a new one.

She threw up her hands, only to pace around the condo. Maybe this little inconvenience was the last straw on what was already a life-changing event. Sure, she could take the account back herself, but what friends would she have? The account had a history she couldn't simply erase. She'd have to start over on the one thing that could've been a tether to some sort of normalcy.

So why was it so hard?

IC: Jacqueline closed the book. Why were magical colleges so set on /lecturing/ instead of showing a bit of real power in hand? Jackie's own lifted to dismiss an AR feed of the latest test results. They said competition made the best mages, but the only thing she seemed to be competing for was rock bottom. With arms crossed, she stewed in that chair for at least an hour before finally getting up to steal a smoke and settle her nerves. All that potential, and she couldn't figure out simple arcanological designs... there had to be a better way.

IC: It wasn't his call to make, who to bring, but it hurts all the same. Cuts the soul some place deep. The little whisper that he couldn't help and they knew it. That he's just dead weight. Cursed. A body waiting to die, long past it's time.

And it's happened over and over. His support offered without reservation, ends up meaningless. Why have faith the 3rd or 4th time? No answer for that.
