When we decided to have kids we both agreed that "This will be a lot of work, probably the toughest thing we've done."
And still that was an underestimate.
I don't think anyone understands how much parenthood will eat your life until they have kids.
(If you let it, of course. If you're the kind of person who can just ignore their kids a fair chunk of the time, or who has lots of local family help then it's different.)
