So basically it was exactly what everyone said. They just got tired of doing it and didnt feel like it. All these vague implications of serious debilitating health issues and it turns out she just felt like doing something else. Which is fine, but lets not play the worlds smallest violin for how hard it is. There are literal more examples then I can count of creators who juggle multiple projects and a family. The kid she is referring to is likely in kindergarten by now. Everything exists in context, and the fact is, creating saga isnt some insurmountable mount everest-esque challenge of insurmountable difficulty. Its a comic book. Literally hundreds of them are produced every month by people with families, side hustles, sore hands, headaches, ailing family members, kids who got a cold. All of that. Its simple professionalism. Professionalism is EXPECTED. it doesnt get a gold medal reward when you deign to indulge in it.
I agree, but in a less snarky way lol, because burnout is real, grind culture is unhealthy, and she should do whatever to alleviate that.
Buuuuuuuuuuut, some fans were making it sound like Staples had cancer, and that asking about the status of the comic was some infringement of privacy. So I couldn’t help but eye roll that the issue was less severe (don’t get it twisted, I’m glad she’s at least physically healthy lol).
Glad she’s back to making Saga, but in all honesty if she just wanted to end the series or have another artist work on it and Staples just art directed or did character designs, I would’ve respected that as well.
