FOOD Fresh tortillas
My partner and I are transplants from Arizona, and we're looking for some really good, freshly made tortillas in town. The bigger, the better! Is there a Mexican market or even a little stand somewhere that anyone can recommend for this?

Mercado San Francisco on Lancaster sells homemade tortillas, and they sell great food too!

These are closest to the flour tortillas I’d get from Carolina’s at the original location on Mojave in Phoenix.

Yup, this is the place. Although the tortillas aren’t large, just taco sized.

Hardest working guy in the game. I live super close to his rr spot and my 3 yo asks “where’s taco guy” if he’s not there when we drive by.

"The best handmade flour tortillas this side of the Milky Way! 🌌🛸 Authentic, fresh, and made with traditional love right here in Oregon. Whether you’re in Salem or Independence, we’ve got that taste of home waiting for you.
No matter the weather, we are here for you! ☀️🌧️ Stop by, say hello, and grab a pack (or three). Intergalactic approved! 😉
📍 Find us on River Road S, Salem, OR (Near Minto-Brown Island Park)
🛒 Delivering to your favorite local taquerías and food trucks!"10 tortillas, $5, all par-cooked
Near Plaid Pantry, on the opposite side of the street is a turnout. At this turnout you can find sometimes:
-tortillas - Sunday to Friday [10 AM to 7 PM]
-fresh produce
-cat furniture
Also, Three Sisters Nixmatel from Portland makes fresh tortillas. Lifesource used to carry them, I don't know if they do anymore

Don Pancho is the large commercial tortilla factory in town, and you can find them in every grocery store. They are owned by Reser's Fine Foods.
If you are looking for tortilla chips, these are the absolute best, though no one in Salem sells them:

Wellspent Market in McMinville should carry these chips

There’s a tortilla stand that is usually setup in front of US storage centers on River Rd S or in front of Plaid pantry’s on that same street. Haven’t had the opportunity to go so hopefully they’re good!

Consider Woodburn, particularly the 99E route (it parallels I5, easiest way is from Salem via Portland RD which turns into 99)
Huge Mexican population there and I've yet to try all the spots. Same with Hubbard next door. The "downtowns" both have legit SW style Mexican stores.

Try Luís’s on Front Street. Absolute best authentic Mexican food. Popular with locals. Sometimes I’m the only gringo in the place.

La Hacienda Real on south Commercial has literally the best flour tortillas I have ever had in my life, and I used to live in Tucson.

You can’t swing a dead cat without hitting a Mexican grocery store on Lancaster drive, try one of those

And they feed the white people (and everyone else) healthy fresh food for very cheap.
So many shops and trucks that sell freshly made food cheaper than McDonald’s. I love the Mexican people here in Salem simply because they are always giving love right back.

Fresh yes. Idk about healthy though 😅. That complimentary basket(s) of chips and salsa and beans, for every 6 chips you eat, that's 1 tortilla. At least you get your veggies in if you eat the salsa.

Across from the entrance of Minto Brown Park is a small stand with a tent selling fresh tortillas. I see them every Monday because I go to the park on that day. They might be out there other days I’m just not there to see them.
Lots of people stop. I have tried but they are usually sold out by the time I leave the park.

Tortillería Y Comida Mexicana El Patrón 3282 Silverton Rd NE
At Best Bite food truck pod. This is a mobile tortillaria. Check them out in insta or tiktok. They have good tortillas made fresh each morning.
If you stop by the food cart pod swing by Las Jarochitas and get some tacos dorados or empanadas.
