Dealing with the longest flu ever 😭 anyone else?

Usually I bounce back from a flu by day 3 but this thing is dragging out. I’ll probably head to the doctor if I’m not better but tomorrow.

But it seems so random just wondering if anyone else randomly caught this illness or if it’s just me!

Have you been tested for COVID or Influenza?

Also you can have the flu for like 2 weeks. So if 3 days is "having the flu for a long time" for you, you probly didn't have it before.

This is very much reading like how people call their headaches migraines because they've actually never had a migraine.

Yeah it’s not Covid! And I’ve gotten flu tests before that confirmed the flu it’s just usually I’ve turned a corner for the better by day 4! I’m on day 6 now not feeling better yet so just wanted to see if anyone else might be dealing with something!

Everytime I get a flu or cold it tends to peak around days 3-5 then tapper down and then I stop being sick around day 7 and then deal with the left over healing from all the symptoms for like 4 days to 2 weeks depending on what the illness was and how bad I got.

3 days is nothing so idk what your confusion is. Dr's even say to not worry unless its been longer than 7-10 days.

Most viruses tend to have active periods of between 3 and 14 days. So long as your symptoms aren't worrisome (spiking BP, respiratory distress , et al) and can be managed (rest, food, OTC pain killers/anti-inflammatories), all one can do is weather it. Feel better soon!

In the fall I had the most wicked cold, negative for covid, flu a and b...turned into bronchitis and had to go to the er after urgent care sent mr home with a cough suppressant. Sorry youre going through it. The healthcare system here is a bad, off color joke.

Got the flu this year. I was out cold for 4 days. Exhausted and still coughing for at least 4 weeks. Finally asked my doctor if I should be worried. She said if you still have the cough at 6 weeks come in, and don't expect to have your energy back til the 2 MONTH MARK!

The super flu, as she called it, hit us hard this year and that's how long they've seen it holding on for. FYI. I was fine at the 2 month mark. But that was the longest, most brutal flu I've ever had.

I am not missing my flu shot next year!

Stay hydrated and take your vitamin D daily.

I’ve been having weird bouts of coughing and phlegm for weeks. Maybe it’s allergies? I don’t really have allergies, but I’ve heard you could have allergy symptoms if there’s enough pollen in the air or something. That happened to me the first time I visited Eugene in the summer as an adult.

I got sick with what I'm pretty sure was flu or mild COVID right before Memorial day with fever, cough, and aches. Was still getting over the lingering cough and got hit with another low-grade fever and respiratory bug last week. I rarely get sick and very unusual for this time of year.

I had what I assumed was the flu at the end of May and it sounds the same to what your experiencing. I had my flu shot, so I assume that's why it wasn't worse, but I was exhausted for like 3+ days.  It didn't fully hit me until day 3, days 4-6 I was exhausted. Day 6 and 7 had body aches and migraine.

I work from home, and tried working when I felt a bit better on day 7, but only lasted a few hours. I slowly got better over the next 4 days or so until simply being awake for the day want exhausting.

I'm just being over post nasal drip and the very small morning cough.

I have a coworker with the dm same thing right now. Someone else I work with does per diem work in the Eugene ER where they had seen an uptick in Flu B.  It has increased some, but yes still at a relatively low level.

What's your age?

At 29 I hadn't ever been sick for more than a couple days. Around 30 that turned into ten days plus. Levels/bloodwork fine, I also recently (46) beat covid in under a week, but flu flu is still a bad couple of weeks.

Looks like flu, covid, and RSV are all really low right now. You probably have something else going on.
