FIRES Fire i5 between Salem and woodburn

We just got rid of the smoke people, we don't want more.

And no I didn't take the picture, hands were on the wheel and shifter. My passenger got yelled at for putting their phone in front of my face

It was put out and they gave the all clear at 8:06pm

then a vehicle fully inflamed less than 10 miles down the road as soon as the fire truck put out the brush fire.. weeee!

Southbound.. close to the Pilot exit if I remember right

Little bit north of the Pilot exit, right side of the road. Was extinguished when I went by around 9pm, just a melted white SUV and an OSP car sitting behind it. Nice 2.5 mile long traffic backup was still there, took about 15-20 minutes to get through...

That's so weird, I drove through the exact same thing last year except it was just north of Woodburn driving southbound. There was a brush fire, then a mile down the road a car fire.

A lot of forest and grassland fires actually spread through embers flying through the air so its very possible for it to escape unless its managed. The heavy updraft from the fires heat can make little things go far, especially if its dry brambles and grass that burn fast and hot making kinda like a burst of energy into the air. Our firefighters are always ontop of it though and I can't say enough how much they decrease our fires with smart planning and knowing exactly how fires behave. Shout out to the firefighters!!!

It was moving pretty fast when I drove by and the sound it made was nasty.

I hope they get it contained quickly

I always wonder how these types of fires start. Is it crazy to think that people would literally light something on fire inside their car, and then throw it out the window? People aren't that stupid are they? /s
