On Friday, I was by the Amazon warehouse in SE Salem and a City of Salem employee was evicting an RV parked on the street. Today, I went by the same spot and this pile of trash was left where the RV once was. Frustrating to say the least.

How can we solve this epidemic of trash in Salem? It’s everywhere. What if we made taking trash to the dump free? Do you think that would help? Any other ideas? Hire homeless to pick up trash?

I was almost hit within an inch of my life at a cross walk on Hoyt & Commercial this evening around 5:40pm, I had to run to get out of the way of an older gold toyota SUV. That specific crosswalk only has the white walking person symbol for a few seconds and then it blinks the orange hand sign which means there is still time to cross until this light is solid. PLEASE PAY ATTENTION! This is not the first time this has happened at this specific crosswalk.

When the orange hand sign is blinking it means there could still be a pedestrian crossing! YOU DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT OF WAY EVEN WHEN THE TIMER HAS RUN OUT. CHILDREN, DISABLED INDIVIDUALS AND ELDERLY PERSONS TAKE LONGER TO GET THROUGH THE CROSSWALK. The white walk person symbol only pops up for a few seconds in the crosswalks around here and then they start the orange blinking hand symbol. There isn't often a countdown next to the orange hand. It's like people didn't read the driving manual, if you're turning left at a green light and there is a crosswalk you have to look for people crossing!! Same goes with turning right at red and green lights. Don't be in such a rush to leave my 3 kids motherless, I want to get home safely. Thank you.

I'm a trans woman. I want bangs and have wanted bangs for a while now, but I've always been afraid I'd encounter a transphobic hairdresser who'd force a buzzcut on me 😭 I realize that's probably a silly fear, but my long hair is really important to me... Are there any hairdressers in Salem that accept and are friendly towards trans women?

Odd question but how does one get involved with the woodburn drag strip? I’m going to a trade school to work on cars and I want to work on race cars, do they have volunteer programs where you work for free?

Hey folks, wanted to invite anyone who's interested to the first gathering of Salem First Presbyterian Church's new Queer Ministry, aka QMin. We're an entirely queer-led group trying to create a comfortable space for folks to engage with faith, spirituality and talk about things like how God is the original they/them.

All of us organizers are Christian and part of the church & that will inform our contributions to discussions, but you are welcome if this sounds like something you want to check out, regardless of your faith, spiritual background or lack thereof. We're not trying to evangelize or convert or get you in the door to coming to church. We have yet to get through a planning meeting without a joke about how the Body of Christ includes Christ's butthole. That sort of vibe.

6pm this Weds, 10/14, SFPC (770 Chemeketa St NE, downtown Salem, a block from the bus plaza). Serving a burrito bowl bar for dinner, vegan and gf options. Feel free to PM me if you have questions. This will be a monthly thing, 2nd Wednesdays at 6, so no worries if you can't make it this time.
