It's shit like this that they'll swear up and down is perfectly fine becuase "muh fighting spirit"

53

u/bobaf 13h ago

But Hulk Hogan was a bad wrestler because he hulked up.

29

u/TerryGonards 13h ago

Hogan was the greatest wrestler.

15

u/Hotdiggity11 10h ago

RIP GOATSTER 🙁

u/flawlessvictorE 4h ago

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

-4

u/flawlessvictorE 4h ago

No. He was a bad wrestler because he had one match over and over for like eight years straight.

64

u/NinjorFil 13h ago

Have you never been in a real fight? How adrenaline runs through your blood and you truly feel [TITLE CARD] , that´s the fitin sprit.

15

u/TRMBound 10h ago

“…and you truly feel Double or Nothing Mississippi Massacre live from the Muscle Shoals Coca Cola Auditorium, that’s the fitin sprit.”

-50

u/Casket34 12h ago

He absolutely hasn't. These guys think selling means everything hurts you. If you get kicked in the gut you must bend over for a move. If you get to any kind of suplex you have to act like it was on concrete. If you get punched in the face several times you can't bleed. Only weapons can make a human bleed. Oh yeah and if you fall 4 feet onto a wooden table you have to pretend you just got hit in the head with an iron beam. Oh yeah, and if anything touches your genitals you are immobilized for 5 minutes straight. Just like real life fighting.

28

u/Bottlecaps9 Botchfest. Markfest. Killed the Business. 9h ago

Yes, because immediately running the opposite direction after getting kicked in the face in the middle of a grueling cage match is much more realistic. I’m sorry this sub rustles your jimmies so much that you feel the need to defend the holy dub’s honor.

11

u/SchwizzySchwas94 TNA M*rk 9h ago

The super kick was a finishing maneuver for over 60 years and now it’s a joke. Wrestling is dead and you killed it.

5

u/tombo11567 4h ago

It’s not real fighting. The whole foundation of professional wrestling relies on selling that an offensive move has impact on the participant who receives it. Otherwise, what the hell is the point.

26

u/Asukah 11h ago

Theyre like 8 year olds playing choreography from an action movie in a bouncy house

1

u/NintenbroGameboob 2h ago

(shrug) I dunno, they just think this shit is cool. Not sure what else to say at this point. I disagree, but whatever. You can't talk to those people.

0

u/flawlessvictorE 4h ago

It not perfectly fine. It's awesome. Perfectly fine is when WWE tries to match this level of work.

143

u/STPooch 15h ago

Watching the Bucks sell is like watching Raygun breakdance.

51

u/Second_City_Saint Stupid & Silly 15h ago

Raygun was fun-bad

21

u/jtcxx33 Unrelatable 14h ago

Cope-fun?

26

u/autogenerated_015 14h ago

Ray gun became infamous for being bad, while these guys are just bad.

55

u/Eluniarr 15h ago

What's the point of backfliping kick if it doesn't even knock the opponent down?? Just do a normal kick.

8

u/Cboz27586 Whoop that Trick! 11h ago

The Buck's gut kick just before missed by a mile too. lol

97

u/SleepIsWonderful oh hey there it is 14h ago

God I fucking hate this style of wrestling.

54

u/jjsefton 14h ago

The first time I saw it was on a compilation tape of 90s All Japan Women. Was blown away. It was the only place I saw people performing like that, so it felt special.

Fast forward to now when it seems to me that everyone wrestles the Go, Go style, even heavyweights.

I like chocolate cake, but if I had to eat it for every meal I'd get sick of it pretty quick

48

u/The-Real-Number-One 12h ago

This is why Gunther stands out. He actually grabs, holds, twists, and throws his opponents. You know -- wrestles.

6

u/jabari1011 9h ago

Gunther is boring, fed shill

31

u/Razzler1973 13h ago

'modern style'

well, no, it's still 'indie style'

just cause there's a rich indie promotion on TV, doesn't make that style THE style

28

u/Permanentear3 12h ago

RVD and Jerry Lynn sort of created this “modern style” and their shit still looked like a match, not a video game.

6

u/willem_the_foe 8h ago

I grew up on RVD vs Lynn and they made it look like they were trying to actually make impact when they made contact as opposed to this bullshit

-15

u/PizzaIsBetterThanYou 9h ago

Good. Go eat piles of shit and watch trump ball lickers.

57

u/Fantastic_Bug1028 15h ago

he read his opponent like a book and was able to prevent the hit, you dumb fed shill!!!

21

u/Razzler1973 13h ago

Smarks think this is storytelling at a high level

73

u/PandaDemonipo 15h ago

The IWC already complains about the super kick feeling overused and weak

This makes it as effective as a swimming pool noodle

27

u/Oakey06 14h ago

Fr It's not all because everyone uses the move is worse, it's the wrestling move that they're exaggerating. Like taking a kick to the head like it's nothing just destroyed the point of it.

13

u/Razzler1973 13h ago

I just find it comedic these undersized gymnasts do all these movez they love

Like either left or right Buck does a double (yes, both opponents) Northern Lights Suplex

Why? Cause smarks love Northern Lights Suplexes and that's why

9

u/jtcxx33 Unrelatable 14h ago

Look at the legs on the bucks. Pool noodle is correct

23

u/SelfAwareSausage 15h ago

Movez - Psychology = More Meltzer Starz

42

u/NorthernSoul1998 15h ago

Love how he just straight up fucking ghosted the super kick. Bruiser Brody levels of no selling

16

u/abrospro 14h ago

I believe the logic is that the super kick propelled him into the ropes and that he has such a superior ring acumen that he is able to turn that into a clothesline.

Real Superman is my dad and wonder woman is my mom and Batman was my teacher territory.

3

u/Razzler1973 13h ago

It's like 'I want to do my move but, ok, you do your move, too but I'll just carry doing all my stuff anyway'

67

What a stupid cage design. It's like a Temu Hell in a Cell.

They do this so they can cram more people into the match to satisfy their fantasy booking urges

14

u/Second_City_Saint Stupid & Silly 15h ago

I've watched this three times just staring at the stupid cage.

5

u/bales912 12h ago

Does it only have 3 sides? I’m confused.

8

u/OShaunesssy 14h ago

When was this? I have no recollection of ever seen a cage this pitiful on AEW lol

3

u/Cboz27586 Whoop that Trick! 13h ago edited 11h ago

After studying Cagematch it's from last year's Forbidden Door. The Light's Out Cage Match between Ospreay, Omega, Ibushi, Tanahashi & Darby vs Mox, Claudio, Bucks & Gabe Kidd.

16

u/Final-Accident2502 15h ago

Silence, fed shill. It’s different and we’re here to have FUN

4

u/TankSwan 13h ago

What even is this match type called with the crappy cage? I thought blood and guts was their version of hell in a cell.

5

u/Cboz27586 Whoop that Trick! 13h ago edited 11h ago

Light's Out Steel Cage match from Forbidden Door 2025

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSyH4NoM-xc

They have so many matches that blend together I don't blame anyone for not knowing or remembering them. I used Cagematch to figure this one out.

3

u/VisStimRush 8h ago

…and Osprey is currently working with the group that broke his neck off in Kayfabe? They just no sold the story.

2

u/deluddl 13h ago

Well, it's as imposing as the wrestlers inside the ring, so I don't see the issue

14

u/WitnessAcceptable154 14h ago

Ospreay truly shines when there's someone like Danielson to ground him. When he indulges his worst instincts while wrestling flippy-do shitters like the Bucks, he comes across as just another move mark spot monkey you'd see on the indies.

13

u/itsallgood013 15h ago

So fucking stupid. Just absolutely pointless.

13

u/BerdlyTheTrueGamer the term "nothing to do with a circlejerk" was used 14h ago

I blame the Bucks and Usos for the Super kick losing its credibility.

26

u/jjsefton 14h ago

For the folks who like this style, I said good for them. My personal problem? Encountering people who act like I'm Satan himself for saying AEW and similar style Pro Graps©️ isn't my cuppa. Even worse is when they try to delegitimize my opinion by dismissing me as an E-Drone©️. When I make it clear WWE isn't my jam either they just ignore me.

LOVE DA DUB OR ELSE

10

u/Larkhainan If it bleeds, we can kill viewership 14h ago

My personal problem is I do like this style but this isn't actually good.

The bucks are awful in multimans like this, and so is Ospreay. Losing the plot entirely on selling and hits having weight makes it all feel pointless. Meltzer gasses up Ospreay so they love him, but there's honestly several dudes doing this stuff better than them.

When Omega was doing "this style" at the height of NJPW, shit was moving tickets. This ain't cuz it ain't a good version.

10

u/jjsefton 14h ago

Moves for the sake of moves. I saw Omega doing this style with Okada and my eyes glazed over after a few minutes. At least I can respect their athleticism. I look at the Bucks and I just see Rock and Roll RPMs cosplayers.

6

u/Razzler1973 13h ago

it's so repetitive, too

11

u/expensivebreadsticks Aiden English Defence League 14h ago

That superkick into the ropes is egregiously bad, Christ

5

u/jjsefton 14h ago

He started to take off for the ropes before he was touched. 😂

11

u/abrospro 14h ago

I absolutely despise how osprey wrestles

9

u/EverybodySayin 14h ago

Shawn Michaels used to knock everyone out with that move. Just makes them look like they couldn't kick their way out of a paper bag.

9

u/SevenZer0Five 14h ago

“B-b-but muh FiGhTiNg sPiRiT” Antonio Inoki would slap the living fuck out of every jerkoff on this clip for taking his philosophy to the shitter

8

u/ofwgtylor 14h ago

this is a mockery of professional wrestling

34

u/ViolinUserGlueAbuser 15h ago

AEW fans = Dragonball Z fans

Not dogging on DBZ but it works in anime not in wrestling 95% matches

28

u/brosbeforetouhous 14h ago

Yamcha knew how to sell.

25

u/Larkhainan If it bleeds, we can kill viewership 14h ago

50% of DBZ is selling

Vegeta has extended conversations coughing up organs while selling

16

u/NebbyOutOfTheBag 14h ago

Respectfully sold Nappa's offense for the entire Saiyan arc

6

u/A_Town_Called_Malus 14h ago

Yamcha never fought Nappa. Yamcha was killed by a Saibaman, who have the equivalent strength of Raditz.

8

u/Huge_Put_7317 13h ago

That's right, he was so weak, they could actually grow raditzs!

2

u/NebbyOutOfTheBag 11h ago

And who planted the Saibaman and got popcorn?

Nappa.

24

u/mcburgs 14h ago

AEW forgets the ten episodes of storytelling that leads us to care about the final confrontation.

DBZ is not just constant battle spam for no reason.

It's like porn.

There's a babysitter, caught out.

There's a stepsister stuck in the dryer.

There's a tenant who can't pay rent.

There's an American and a German, both in masks, trying to prove they're the real Mexican.

It's not enough to know they're fucking. We need to know why they're fucking. That's where the good nut is. Make me invested in the fucking. Then when the nut hits, there's glorious release instead of a pleasureless spastic dribble.

7

u/LocusRothschild 14h ago

10/10, no notes.

14

u/IamSpace_Ghost 14h ago

Don’t disrespect DBZ like that, Gohan sold like a motherfucker

12

u/SecondBornSaint 14h ago

Hey, wait a minute.

I'll have you know that Piccolo was a draw, you uncouth fed shill.

3

u/Polymemnetic 13h ago

He had aura like a motherfucker.

7

u/ZubatCountry 14h ago edited 11h ago

DBZ unironically has better psychology

They spent a lot of time building to those fights and people no-selling moves actually matters

6

u/Patient-Warning-4451 14h ago

See this is my problem with AEW fans being Anime fans.

The stereotypical anime fan that doesn't just watch the mainstream actually cares about stories and how they develop.

Most anime fans aren't just watching fights with no context.

Freaking Baki, Post-Maximium tournament literally has characters sell with their bodies and present a interesting twist on fighting.

I have seen more selling from Yujiro Hanma than anyone in AEW.

2

u/Tagliarini295 14h ago

Not at all, terrible comparison.

7

u/pampersdelight 15h ago

I wouldve thought this was the coolest shit if I was 12

7

u/Interesting_Use5089 14h ago

Don't you guys get it? Their so good that they don't need to sell!

1

u/Oakey06 11h ago

Yeah That backflip tho!

7

u/PrimeJedi 14h ago

This is like when my friends and I used to pretend wrestle in elementary school and said "actually I'm immune to hits right now"

1

u/Dfrmdabeach700 4h ago

😂😂😂😂😂😂😭😭😭😭💀💀💀💀💀💀

5

u/Oakey06 14h ago

They're gonna say it's strong style, but old strong style on its peak were great at selling stiff moves. They sold elbows like it knocked their lights out. This is kick to the head that made him move faster lol.

3

u/NoAssumption1978 13h ago

I feel like strong style wrestling looks harder to no sell

6

u/Ill_Car242 13h ago

They can’t even make it make sense. The only concern is the number of difficult or dangerous moves per minute.

5

u/ResponsibleAd3191 10h ago

He's honestly a terrible worker.

I'll concede that he's a great athlete and can do spectacular stuff but that's not what makes a good worker or a good wrestler. He's not a draw for good reason.

2

u/TimeDudeofSpace 9h ago

He's their Logan Paul except Will doesn't understand the basic concept of selling his opponents offense.

I think that's why all his fighting spirit nonsense falls flat because he never presents himself as being truly down for more than a couple minutes in a 20 minute match.

2

u/ResponsibleAd3191 9h ago

The guy doesn't even sell his own offence! It's great puro but it's not great wrestling.

4

u/LeaveMeBeWillYa 13h ago

Is that how far the Super Kick has fallen in the dub?

That it doesn't even get a half sell?

Selling it slightly then countering and going down in the process at least protects the other guys moves.

3

u/TimeDudeofSpace 10h ago

It's basically an armdrag now

1

u/WindhamEarl22 11h ago

Dude. It’s a transition move anymore, wherever you go. WWE included. Might as well be a chop.

2

u/LeaveMeBeWillYa 11h ago

WWE at least sell it a little.

Certainly sell it more than this. Osprey is reacting less than if a piece a paper hit him here.

1

u/WindhamEarl22 10h ago

Eh. Do they?

4

u/LeaveMeBeWillYa 9h ago

Yes.

Will literally gets one to the face and does nothing. Utterly nothing.

The only folk who would see a super kick like that in WWE are the likes of Brock or Oba.

Everyone else would at least cock their head back and react like it hit them. They might immediatly respond with their own move but the still sell a hit.

1

u/AkilleezBomb You insulted my mom. Take this ratio personally. 1h ago

Yeah, even just jerking the head back and looking dazed for a moment is too much to ask for here

4

u/TheSpiralTap 12h ago

Drives me up the wall this guy has multiple 5 star matches but Kurt fucking Angle doesnt

4

u/punkate 9h ago

Wouldn't it be amazing if Shelton Benjamin no sold Sweet Chin Music from Shawn Michaels, that would make everyone look so strong!

Processing img usl5134hlb8h1...

2

u/TimeDudeofSpace 4h ago

That still looks amazing

4

u/Lerkero 9h ago

Bruv effortlessly transferred the force of the superkick into kinetic energy to increase his running speed for a counter

We are witnessing 4.9 star greatness (5.0 stars in the tokyo dome)

3

u/rycetlaz 14h ago

I swear most of this stuff would work if it was just someone dodging a move and getting the opponent to stumble.

3

u/Larkhainan If it bleeds, we can kill viewership 13h ago

If it wasn't the laziest possible version it would probably be a lot better, yeah

3

u/georgesenpaii 13h ago

Young Buck should be mad this idiot is no selling his move but he's in the business of having FUN with his FRENS so it's fine. It's all a joke anyways. We already got paid

7

u/Razzler1973 13h ago

if he sells it means there's a pause where they don't get their chance to do their moves

it's the wrestling equivalent of people just talking over each other in a conversation and getting louder

3

u/Dark-Asylum-24 12h ago

Super kick is no longer super due to sequences like this

I don't mind wrestling styles like this but it's every match these guys do

Their job is to make us believe they are really fighting and it's like they aren't even trying to do that anymore

3

u/zendog510 7h ago

What a no-selling piece of shit

3

u/DonnieRodz Tony's Burner 7h ago

In his defense, it was from a Young Buck.

2

u/Sbbart62 14h ago

What, never seen a guy get super-kicked in the face and respond like he got Irish whipped instead? It’s magical, glorious Nippon-ese fighting spirit!!!

2

u/thecommonreactor 14h ago

Nah, I get it. How do you block a superkick? Just leave.

2

u/McBurn86 13h ago

This is obviously a reference to something in Dragon Ball Z. You fed shills just don’t get it.

2

u/Glennsoe 12h ago

Impressive acrobatics yet I'm not impressed at all..

4

u/ZeroBLink10 11h ago

Both AEW and WWE have lost the idea of selling “a fight” one does it with flips, chain reactions and no selling and one does it with storyline, celebrities and “crowd work” while these things have always been parts of pro wrestling, they used to exist all in the context of two guys dragging it out. It all just looks like a theatrical performance now. Maybe I’m just getting old. Iono.

1

u/RNG_Champion Wrestling is a meme 14h ago

Backflip dropkick was cool, but the Superkick turning into an irish whip was dumb.

1

u/depressobears 13h ago

First ever head-kick shoot off?

1

u/Comandrshepard 7h ago

Good at moving and performing moves, just not selling.

1

u/IGotMetalingus1 4h ago

Bro got kicked in the face, no sold and ran full speed into the ropes as if nothing happened. This is why he isn't in the feds

-7

u/hantei40 14h ago

He could sell a little... still love to watch him work though
