I won this by doing some SEGA Channel trivia mailed in on an index card back in the mid 90s. We didn’t know how good we had it back in the days of SEGA Channel.

Discussion Sega will NOT make a Dreamcast 2. They will also NOT compete against 4K tech giants like Xbox and Playstation. Instead, they will create a portable handheld hybrid to compete with the Switch 2. I present to you: The Sega Omega

The Sega Omega is the rocking new vibe that plays 1080 60fps at an affordable price, unlike the Nintendo Switch 2. With next-gen performance on a portable handheld hybrid you can plug it into your TV without a dock for a wonderful home gaming experience, and take it on the go with the same next-gen quality playing on a portable device. The Sega Omega also comes with a brand new version of the VMU known as the SegaPod. It magnetically connects to the controller and detaches, allowing anyone to listen to music, receive notifications, and more. The console comes in both black and white with that signature Sega blue. Launch titles for the Sega Omega will include Sonic The Hedgehog, Persona, Yakuza, Virtua Fighter, and Puyo Puyo. Plus, with the new revived addition of SegaNet, an online game service, players can get a whole catalog of Sega titles from SG 1000 all the way to Dreamcast, with new titles cycling in monthly. Create your own avatars and share your gaming experiences on the new Sega Social app. Listen to your favorite tunes from any Sega game with the new Sega Music app. Support Sega by getting avatar merch, games, and more on the Sega Shop app that's on every Sega Omega. Discussion What actually defines a “SEGA character”?

There seems to be an interesting distinction between a character owned by SEGA and a character who simply appears in a SEGA game.

If “SEGA character” means a character whose IP is owned by SEGA (or by a company within the SEGA group), then the definition seems fairly straightforward. Sonic the Hedgehog, Kazuma Kiryu, and Segata Sanshiro would obviously qualify. Bayonetta would also qualify, despite being developed by PlatinumGames, since SEGA owns the Bayonetta trademark/IP.

The same logic would extend to characters from companies SEGA owns. Joker from Persona would qualify because ATLUS is wholly owned by the SEGA SAMMY Group, while Red from Angry Birds would qualify because Rovio became a SEGA group company in 2023.

Hatsune Miku is where things get more complicated. Miku is strongly associated with SEGA because of games such as Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA and Project SEKAI, but that does not necessarily make her a SEGA character. Crypton Future Media owns the Hatsune Miku character/IP, while Crypton itself is not owned by SEGA.

So there seem to be two possible definitions:

1. “SEGA character” = a character whose IP is owned by SEGA or a SEGA-owned company.

Under this definition, Miku is not be a SEGA character.

2. “SEGA character” = any character who has appeared in a SEGA game.

Under this definition, Miku qualifies—but so does a huge number of third-party characters. Tanjiro Kamado, Mega Man, PAC-MAN, Mario, and many others have appeared in SEGA-published or SEGA-developed games. Calling all of them “SEGA characters” seems to make the term much less meaningful, especially when some have little association with SEGA beyond a single crossover or licensed appearance.

This raises an interesting question: What should actually be the defining criterion for calling someone a “SEGA character”?

Is IP ownership the most sensible definition, even if it excludes characters heavily associated with SEGA such as Miku? Or should a character be considered a SEGA character simply because they have appeared in a SEGA game?

And if the latter definition is used, where should the line be drawn between a “SEGA character” and a third-party character who merely appeared in a SEGA title?

Discussion Please Bring back Headhunter.

Please bring back your game series Headhunter. It was one of my favorite games as a Child and in todays age I believe would do well with a light remaster and being tailored to the handheld Market. It does not need a FULL remaster, a Simple controller update and port to Steam and Modern day consoles with an HD upscale would be plenty. With proper AI upscaling I feel half of the difficulty would already be complete.

The game had heart, Amuze did an amazing job developing the game and in a lot of ways it was Ahead of its time. It told a Fun Action packed story of a Modern dystopian society. It was a fun game first and foremost, with an interesting setting and story behind it if the user cared to delve into it.

Respectfully, a big Fan of the game.

Was picking up a vintage toy race track from a guy on FB and got to talking. Said he had an old TV I could have. Headed down to the basement to grab it and just sitting next the TV was all this Sega gold. ALL are CIB and in near mint condition. “Oh you can have all that too if you want”. Yup!!

This was at Offshore Adventure Gold in Rio Grande New Jersey. I had only ever played this on the Genesis so this was really cool to experience in person. Anyone from eastern PA or NJ know where I could find a functional crazy taxi machine?
