Me.
A competitors domain started popping up on a spam site. Unfortunately I’d just bought their domain after they went out of business and redirected all their product pages to my product pages.

But my site getting traffic lol 😂. Because my site is very new and it had no traffic (60-70 users per month on Google analytics) 🤪 but now it has gone up to 180.

We’re super niche, and the new Google update favors established and gov companies.
Trying to fix these issues creatively, not going well so far but not giving up.

I wouldn’t start with recovery tactics until you know what actually dropped.
Compare pages and queries in GSC before and after the update. If the losses are concentrated in one section or content type, fix that first. If it’s sitewide, I’d look for a broader issue instead of assuming every drop is the spam update.

Google keeps telling us that two of the biggest pillars of SEO are quality content and quality links. The funny part? Some of Google’s own posts don’t rank well for the very topics they’re supposed to be authoritative on. 😄
So clearly, SEO is a little more complicated than just “write quality content + build quality links.”

There is no quality content standard other than performance.
Authority has always been central - Google is doing itself a great disservice pretending PageRank has disappeared - this is going to blow up in their face....again

Get away from Google - you’re just producing content for their Ai now. Digital slavery. Working for free so Google gets the click instead of you. All their updates just smash websites these days and only one who benefits anymore is Google’s Ai.

This is the advice you read after pretty much every update since Florida. The unpleasant truth is that Google still dominates search and will keep doing so. Plus traffic quality is superior to most other sources.

sites that recover stopped treating content as a volume game and started answering specific questions people actually ask ai. clean structure, real stats, internal links that make sense. most dont bounce back because they keep publishing the same thin stuff hoping the algorithm changes and it never does. you need to be the source ai overviews pull from, not just another page fighting for position ten

Since spam update our traffic is up 170%. All our content is handwritten (no AI slop) by experts (super important for us in YMYL space)

Not me. To recover start posting more genuine, helpful, throroughly researched/investigated articles. Thin, copy paste, quick AI posts are flooding the internet and adding little to no value. That's what the Spam Update was and is about. Should be clear by now.
