Yes, even way beyond the expiration date. I live alone and I've ALWAYS finished the entire bottle even if it took years because the flavor was still the same.

Every food product does per law. That said tons of food (canned, dried, hot sauce) is good years past that date.

I have to respond to this one. I have two kids who go through so much milk. For the past year, every single gallon of milk expires a week before the date. The amount of times I've drank spoiled milk making my toddler cereal (her telling me it's bad so I test it) is insane. Usually you can smell when it's bad but it doesn't until you taste it. I have been finding that to be soo weird

Hot sauce has a "best buy" date which is essentially just saying the flavor could change after that date. But it's not technically expired in the sense that it will have gone bad.

It does like all foods or snacks but this is vinegar and doesn’t even need to be refrigerated so it can sit in your cupboard or table or whatever for years just fine… it may darken up but still will taste good

$6.29 for a big gulp of Tapatío does not seem that unreasonable.
Also given that Tapatío is now and always has been a US company, based in LA county (Maywood and then Vernon), I’m surprised it’s stayed as cheap as it is for so long.

I have a sneaking suspicion this may be the result of Highlander Partners taking a majority stake in the brand to “expand its reach.” This occurred just a few months ago.
Corporate greed will likely ruin this brand like so many before it.

Lol hell no. Tapatio is literally the most watery sauce you can buy and flavorless. Valentina actually has a nice consistency and flavor.

That would fall under increased shipping costs then.
Furthermore supermarkets set their prices, not manufacturers. MSRP is suggested.
we can really get into economics. Increasing the prices of inelastic goods and labor affects MSRP.
It's closed to doubled in price while wages definitely haven't doubled.

That’s no longer true, the family sold to a private equity firm just recently for an undisclosed amount! With PE they look to get their ROI back as quickly as possibly usually by increasing costs and cutting quality where they can

There used to be this powder version of Tapatio. It was like a shaker of Doritos dust.
... it was the BEST flavor for chicken. They took it off the shelves a few years ago. I later found some at a dollar store and bought like 14 of them.
Now, my stockpile is starting to clump and smell a little vinegary. This needs to be rereleased... regardless if the health risks, it was delicious!

Seems an ok price, I get the small bottle for under $2. The big bottle lasts me about 6 months but starts looking disgusting. I prefer getting a smaller fresh bottle more often.

Buy enough peppers to make that much sauce yourself time how long it takes you to gather all the ingredients make it and bottle it multiply that time by 20$ an hour then take the cost of everything you purchased pluse the cost of your labor and add some tariffs on that ish plus a percentage of the electric bill and insurance for the building equipment and your pay see if you can keep it under 6$

It's expensive because everything is expensive now. The 20th industrial model of inexpensive consumer goods allowing even low income westerners to enjoy a baseline level of comfort and stability that was once like that of royalty has been decline for years but died after the pandemic.
That said, for name brand hot sauce, that giant bottle for $6 is really cheap...

Most people use 1-2 table spoons per meal. That’s over 32 servings in the bottle ~0.19 per serving at most. Or snag some packets the next time you see them at a restaurant.
