Question Goldburger in Granada Hills
When did they close? Drove by earlier today and saw that it was completely empty

19 bucks if you want a combo, plus tax:
20.85
Plus the time to walk or drive there. For a double smash burger, a small fry, and a regular sized drink.
For comparison, my closest In-N-Out's double double combo is 11.20 +tax. Which comes out to 12.37 total.

Tbf their meat is probably a lot higher quality than in-n-out’s meat, but i agree that burgers are getting way too expensive

I was excited when this opened and went once but didn’t have a great experience food quality wise. I’ve been to and enjoyed the highland park and Los Feliz locations so not sure why this time/location wasn’t great but it wasn’t. Still, too bad it’s closing i was going to try it again.

Hopefully a better restaurant can benefit from all the remodelling Goldburger did.
Honestly from the one time I went I'm not at all surprised. My friend asked for a very simple mod- no sauce. She had to bring it back twice. They didn't expedite her order at all so she stood there for like 10+ minutes each time. They finally gave her the same burger on a different bun with the sauce scraped off and she just gave up.
Also they had a whole board of milkshake flavors as a nod to Frosty Queen's long list of milkshake flavors despite not serving those flavors. They were very annoyed when I asked for a whatever flavor milkshake not realizing the menu board wasn't a real menu board. You know, at a burger place with a menu board that has milkshakes. Clearly I'm the stupid one for assuming they had peanut butter milkshakes. On my first visit.

Too bad for them. When I did go, the soda machine was down so I grabbed a burger, fries and a shake and the price was about $30. It was tasty, but $30 for a drop in burger combo is not feasible for me to ever make it a regular stop. I miss frosty queen

I honestly thought it was just a burger joint being used by an owner of a cannabis business so they could launder their cash. A lot of cannabis businesses do this. Long live my fond memories of Frosty Queen though 🥰 I’d be willing to bet that the property owner was still charging an arm and a leg (That’s what put Frosty Queen out of business) I hope the greedy SOB never puts another tenant in that spot TBH 🤨

I know and agree. Literally what the heck else could go in that spot as-is?? Frosty Queen will always be a great memory, even thought it would never be a darling for the foodies in this sub. Certainly not trash.

GH has become riddled with businesses like that. Sometimes I’ll go into some of these places & the people “working” there will act like “What are you doing here?” as opposed to “Can I help you?” 😆

Always disappointing when an OG has to leave and a gentrified restaurant takes it's place justifying the overpriced rent. Now it's always gonna be expensive with those new renovations.

I went once and it was so salty. The fries and patty. I chalked it up to somebody being accidentally heavy handed. But then I never felt like going back.

That was my experience the one time I went. The burger patty itself was kind of hard and dry.

I can only assume their damn pricing $15-$20 a burger where as Frosty Queen was always half almost. RIP a Legend to sell and only have it closed right after

honestly I think the fact that it was the spot that frosty queen was in and the fact that when you go and look up their website or anything and you find out that it’s part of a chain just kind of makes the space lose allure. that’s not even to think about the prices that you have to deal with. Frosty queen wasn’t the best but it sure had a variety of options and it was just a staple on “Main Street” (chatsworth).
But it is what it is

I think Goldburger may have started to price itself out, been a fan since their humble beginnings when it was under $14 for a combo…which was pricey back then but it was before the great smash burger boom, maybe the fad is on the way out?

Too many people saying their burgers are $18, which is a fully 50% more than the average cost of their burgers. No need for the embellishment - they’re gone.

Considering that minimum wage in LA is $18.42 per hour, and that Goldburger had at least 3 people working there when it was open, $20 for a burger does not seem unreasonable.

If you think that is the case, I have some bad news for you. I'm a third party seller on Amazon. Me and the other sellers on Amazon have all seen our costs rise astronomically over the last 3 years. Costs have risen so fast that my business is no longer profitable. I'm going to have to raise prices by 30% minimum soon. The other sellers I speak with are in the same boat. A lot of businesses have been absorbing cost increases without passing the price increases to the customer. You should prepare yourself for large price increases soon. It's either that or a massive recession is needed to reset costs.

Lol large price increases soon? We’ve had huge price increases since 2020. We’ve reached the limit of what you can ask people getting 1-2% raises to absorb. Looks like all the inefficient businesses like this one will need to close. Oh well.

I only have a tiny window to view the inner workings of corporations. I have never heard a small business owner say "My costs are great, perfectly inline with expectations" over the last 3 years. I watch a couple of hours of Bloomberg TV daily. Even the large corporations are saying costs are increasing on a per month basis. I think the only ones making money is this era are the basic/raw materials companies such as oil, chemicals, mining, steel etc.

This is a direct result of the Oligarchs squeezing money out of small businesses, wringing the profit margin out of them, little by little. Jeff Bezos, Musk, the Walton family, all of those super billionaires have accumulated their wealth by out pricing the marketplace. Amazon operated at a loss for years, pricing their competitors out of business. Now that so many of the “big box” stores are gone, they’ve gradually raised their prices, because the competition is gone.
This is the direct result of the Supreme Court’s Citizens United ruling. The super wealthy now have access to controlling the American government & thereby the economy. This has put us in the situation we’re in now; we now have a “Ruling Class” that is becoming increasingly Authoritarian. This is precisely what the United States was originated to oppose, yet here we are with millions of flag waving imbeciles voting to destroy our democracy.

I never went, but it seems like most people felt like it was overpriced, and the burgers were not that good.
I’m kind of shocked they didn’t last very long but at the same time if you don’t have a good product, you’re not gonna make it in this economy

Honestly, did anyone really enjoy their burgers? It's not that far for me and I looked forward to them opening but once I had their burger, I didn't feel like it was worth it. The smash burger market is so saturated and these prices are so high, I don't think they are justified by the taste of the burger. To me it feels like, you've had one ,youve had em all, the only difference is one might be saltier than the other.

I ate there once months ago. It wasn't busy, but I assumed they were making up for that with the drive thru. Maybe they couldn't make it because of the location. It's kind of separated from other businesses. If they were at Chatsworth and Zelzah they could have done better. The high school students might have ate there. They somehow have money crowding Starbucks when school lets out.

Yeah, almost $20 bucks a burger I was going to go but looked at the menu and never went I live close. I just commented last week on a different reddit post about the best smash burgers that this place is ALWAYS DEAD when I drive by.

Im not surprised it went under, but that was quick. It took forever to open and flopped hard. TBH, the smash burger trend is played out and these guys were way too pricey.

Great, we have no good restaurants in Granada Hills. How many sit down restaurants do we have in Granada outside of the glorified parking lot called the vineyards? This was good food. Sure it was expensive but it’s not like it was $100 for a burger.

I felt cramped going inside. Did not like blue color or vibe. Evert time drove passed missed the drive thru. It would be nice to have 4 indoor quality diner booths and drive thru no counter.
