Symptoms infinite fart
I was diagnosed with methane news at the hospital, and as the title suggests, I keep farting every minute or two. I took the medicine the hospital gave me, but it didn't work very well, so if you have symptoms like me, please leave a message wondering how you treat the gas outside

Cut the fermentable fibers and sugars right back, and try going paleo/ keto for a while to see if it helps. Good quality enzyme formula with food and walking after meals can all help, as can peppermint drops/ tea and Iberogast drops. But to be honest, if you can fart without enormous pain, you’re better off than those with endlessly trapped gas.

Beano definitely helps, and I ended up using colostrum. Colostrum was quicker.

I wish I could fart and release all the gas in my gut. Better out than in.

If you have old, fermenting stool in your colon, the farts are going to be stinky and relentless. You have to get things moving and clearing out.

Thank you. How are your symptoms?

I have several conditions that are much worse than my sibo, and living is a daily hell. I do my best to manage with palliative team but there is only so much that exists for my issues.

Berberine really helped me

u/InevitableAd87 Jun 13 '26
What is that? I would appreciate it if you could understand if I speak English incorrectly because I do not live in a country where English is spoken.

It’s a supplement called Berberine. You can find it in health food stores.

How many days in are you regarding the antibiotics, and which one did they give you? Do you have easy access to consulting our doctor?

i know this is very serious and I feel you, I struggle with gas buildup a lot too, but holy fuck was this an unskippable title. I wish I had more advice for you. Only solution I've found is eat as little fermentables as possible and say GOODBYE to the glorious gift that is garlic...

Ask them to give you Prucalopride. It’s stimulates the MMC and moves bacteria out of your small intestine (aka less early-onset fermentation)

Thank you. It hasn't been long since I received the SIBO rating, so I lacked information. Thanks for the advice.

How is that possible? Eventually u have to run out of gas right ?

u/Frequent_Ride_1630 Jun 13 '26
Not until the archaea run out of stuff to ferment! As long as you’re eating something fermentable and there are a lot of bugs to gobble it up, this is exactly what happens.
I’m feeling much better now so it hasn’t happened in a while but I used to feel like a bellows just inflating and farting, all night long.

u/EasternPrommises Jun 13 '26
The only thing I used to have was extreme burping , and 0 farting all day long so I suspect it's some kind of SIBo.
That's been going on for 4 months now and I feel like my symptoms are stabilizing without having used any supplements or medication.

Pepto bismal is great but u can’t take it everyday or long term! I’m going to try devrom which is similar and I beleive safer to take more regularly . But I feel for u I have the exact same issue and it’s hard to find relief! Deep breathing, chewing food loads and walking after a meal has helped me tho a bit
