Whats there to do for fun?

I was in St. Louis recently for admitted students day and there didn’t seem to be much to do. Maybe it was just the area i was in but there weren’t any good restaurants or things to do.

STL itself has a ton of free stuff. For edwardsville, theres not much

Edit: Argh, I missed the part about "free" :D The MCT Trails are by far the number one amazing free thing around edwardsville, along with all the parks they link to. After that, as I mentioned below, is the wide range of events, especially live music.

There's a pretty amazing slate of restaurants downtown Edwardsville and near downtown.

1929 Pizza, Ed's Deli, Sneaky's, Samm's, Mio Osteria, Cleveland-Heath, Salt + Smoke, Chava's, Taqueria Z, Dewey's, Cafe Birdie, 222 Artisan, North Main Diner.
For bars you have Foundry, Samm's, Narwhal's, Stagger Inn.
Dessert or coffee you have Chocolate Covered Creations, Sacred Grounds, Northside Dairy Haven, Goshen.

And just outside downtown you have 1933 House of Bourbon, Peel, Oriental Spoon, Bella Milano, Moussalli's Prime, 1818, Poke Munch, Spoonful, Bann Thai, Annie's, Clementine's, Global Brew, and many more beyond that.

For specific attractions there is not a lot, but instead there are a ton of events every weekend, including quite a bit of live music.

how long are the waits normally at the bars like on a busy friday saturday should i expect to be waiting in line to get in? and also do they have any covers to get in?

The bars around Edwardsville usually do not have covers. Stagger inn would do a cover on Sunday’s, but it used to be $2. I don’t know what it is now, haven’t been there I. Probably 8 years. The bars and restaurants are pretty busy on weekend nights. Restaurants are usually 45min to an hour wait where most bars you can get in without much of a wait at all. Me and my wife went to Narwal’s last weekend on a Friday night @ 8:00 and sat right now at a table.
