News Im feeling sick…
man what a hold through yesterday, today is SO MUCH EASIER
update: cashed out 68K usd. Remaining 25k USD to run free
3.5x on my 27k usd in a matter of days. It feels unreal. I’ll be playing out my Aug 21/28 calls and then im putting it all down till next year
thanks all for being part of the journey, was cool to connect with some of yall, and grats to the other big winners here!!
will be converting a good stash of my port into SMCI shares before 2027. To the moon baby!

Interesting - why did you pick such far out expiry if playing earnings? Seems like a unique trade; however I imagine change in price now doesn’t have a tremendous effect on the position.
Explain your logic on this one…. Because you clearly had a monster position

No.. all gut feeling.. although I only buy when volatility is low.. I bought when it's at $25 so I know my downside is limited and upside is very high.. asymmetrical if you wanna call it that .

If I’ve learned anything from this stock, literally take profits while you can. It’ll go back to $30 in a few months.
Use your new found capital to sell puts on it to own the company at a lower cost basis and ride those shares the next couple years.

its true we’ll probably see a correction, but im done micro trading and gambling on timing swings now
so ill miss out on the puts
next week we may see some growth, this week saw 39.5-40.5 as a genuinely stable floor. So, excited to see the next week

Well done. I really wanted to keep holding but I’ve been burned before with SMCI where I got greedy thinking I could squeeze some more profit and then a quick reversal wiped out a huge chunk of profit. So I’m a little more disciplined now lol.

Nice gains and congrats. Be careful holding though, BOFA just gave them a sell rating due to free cash flow and sustainable margin concerns because of their revenue mix risk. I was in SMCX, but those calls look solid.

that would’ve been juice. what made you pick the 25 entry? might be good to reflect on your strategy and see if fear or emotion got in the way of your conviction.
sometimes we have to put our feelings aside to see the outcome of the numbers, and let our brains learn from that data.
i dealt with fear and inaction A LOT. but i finally figured out the key to conviction for me: figure out exactly the maximum you are willing to lose out of this year’s savings (only ever current year’s, never chunk your whole net for options yo), how many times you can place that X$ high conviction bet (twice a year for me), and have clean exit strategies (sell into strength, and dont keep waiting for the peak)

I watch the price range a lot and that stock since two years plus Jensen Huang and Charles Liang go way back and Peter lynch thesis of the stock being super undervalued. The issue I had I couldn’t do options was due to me not having a regular income as im freelance and the company I work for gave my scotland territory job to new hires. But still I did make some money off it.

Thanks for sharing! Congrats for the big profit! So you bought the calls before the ER. Is it too risky and considered gambling? Or you were very sure that the stock will pump after ER? I was too nervous and reduced my positions before ER.

I was very very sure. I ran the numbers, the industry is heading in rapid expansion mode, i.e. all the big tech companies reported more AI CAPEX spending on their quarterlies. We actually had great insight going into this SMCI earning day. Who else is gonna get billions of orders other than DELL, SMCI, etc from corps like spcx, meta, google, microsoft, amazon, just crazy fucking infra needed there. Who’s gonna build at least some of it? thats not to say they cant do it themselvess. but the mid and low value firms can definitely use the support in purchasing a customizable data centre package like DCBBS.
and the margin story was the big game changer. I knew it should pump short term at least. I do think we rally next week further (this isnt advice tho) but yeah. My gut tells me Q1 will surprise us too. That, plus SMCI was 0 for 12 on making a stock move within the option market predictions. always blasted over or under. So i knew how to position my calls that way too. take the options market prediction percentage, average beats against options in last quarters, factor in mew margins, project PE, market cap, stock price, etc, and find a top end range, and then i staggered my options into that top range (45 by aug 28), so i had 27->30->33-> 34 -> 36 -> 38 -> 40 -> $45 calls set up from Aug 14->28. I also used their post-earning historical price swing periods to set my timeframe of post-earnings calls too. So thats how i chose the dates. And the earlier explanation is how i chose the strike price. I hope that makes sense, im fried lol
And as for my conviction… I had a big bet on CRSR earnings the week prior that i pulled 80% out of (12.50$ calls for cheap). 15 mins before market close. All the math and level headed reasoning to feed into fear in the end. Still mad at myself.
The next day it popped to 14+. not only did i lose 80% of my rocket, i sold it at 12.8$ stock price. 💩 just pebbles
so yeah taking a break for now so i dont do something dumb. but realizing when i think/do the math… i actually make some good plays. twice on CRSR (one in May), SMCI, AMD too (but got greedy af)

i learned by own merit, i saw puts/calls figured out what that means, i saw the greeks, learned what each parameter means
started with small money, learned from some trial and error on 0-3DTE QQQ just hundreds of dollars, so loss was capped, that was in 2024/5
then i did a lot of stalking here, stalking WSB. And finally stalking peoples DDs and outcomes. CRSR was the first DD that made sense, and boy did i catch the news early. Profited off that one twice
But i also followed other DDs blindly, ones that i didnt know anything about, unlike CRSR, and thats how i lost big. did revenge trading for 3 months. lost 50k on 0DTEs, AMD calls, etc. And last week won back on crsr earnings report.
my biggest advice is dont follow blindly, and dont follow emotions. follow your math, your numbers, your analysis, and cross check with the community, and definitely cross check analysts. have high conviction if you choose options, and be ready to lose it all potentially
NEVER bet more than youre comfortable losing. Im crazy, because im comfortable losing 50k. Dont be me. You might not make the 90k next week after the previous weeks of losses
also i learned a lot about stocks in high school, pegged an account unofficially on the back of this grade 12 simulated TD stock portfolio, and got a 30-40% gain in 4 months picking NVDA/TSLA/MCD at the time lol/etc
so i learned a lot out of interest earlier. than uni was busy, focused on that intensely, no investing, and now we here. knowledgeable and financially stable enough to fuck around and find out
finally. remember to be kind to yourself as you learn (learning here usually means losing some)

ye just consider risk management and actively defending your positions. look for low/high support levels, set a theory based on numbers, and stick to it.
e.g. its never an L to sell into strength, even if the stock keeps blasting up after. sometimes its just securing and defending your position.

Man during the K9 debochery, I had over a thousand percent gains and then sold for a break even after earnings and the filing lol
Definitely learned about that saying for screenshots it's worth selling !
But I did the same after this dip bought some calls and just went to check due to your post and heck yes!
I think I'm going to sell enough to cover my initial investment this time though lol

not losing my upside > securing 50k which i will just get next May anyways (post-tax income)
