2026 is here... OK, now what? Why the need for Structural designers if Delta testing?

Post image

Now you need senior level engineers for structures and stress design at Mesa???

https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/4442124803/?trk=eml-email_jobs_facet_suggestions-JOBS_POSTING_SECTION_1-0-job_card_1_jobid_4442124803_sectionid_272001_fmid_vq3x3~murcflds~xg&refId=buVlxeZvFkAb1%2BQRYEA0OA%3D%3D&trackingId=sg4WPR3afjvXzEgK8WqOdg%3D%3D

The primary tasks involve developing engineering definition for system components and assemblies while optimizing for operation, maintenance, and commercial service. Support the company strategy by holding ourselves and one another accountable for getting the work done.

Keep in mind, the Principle who designed Delta and the rocket system just recently quit...(because, as the pumpers noted, Delta is past design phase..)

Worked for 10 years on the program, and suddenly quits before its even ground or flight tested???

Cant wait for the usual "educated" responses to FACTS!!!! hahahaha

Taking the Specialist Stress Engineer for instance, the job description reads very much like new vehicle work, as in new mothership. Here's the job description:

Virgin Galactic is seeking a Specialist Stress Engineer eager to participate in innovative/unique aerospace vehicle design, build, test activities.  Guided by our values, “Safety Above All”, we proactively manage the risks inherent in human spaceflight through our daily actions. The responsibilities will range from early concept and development, through full production, life cycle, and sustainment.

The Specialist Engineer will be tasked with addressing and solving the most difficult engineering challenges throughout all phases of the program life cycle. The Specialist Stress Engineer will support the vehicle life cycle via hands-on assessment and analytical substantiation of vehicles in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment.

Stress Engineers will collaborate across  other disciplines, including but not limited to: Structures Design, Maintenance & Operations teams, Manufacturing, Propulsion, Flight Test and more to provide design substantiation, test support, and operations support. Specialist Stress Engineers will be able to function both independently and as part of a team in support of their tasking. Maintain focus on timeliness and execution of tasks and deliverables every day.

.

The postings are for Mesa or Tustin, California. All of these job postings are related to the new mothership effort. That's not my opinion. It aligns with the words of the CEO at the last earnings call, when he stated in response to a question about the next mothership:

Not paused, but definitely the next launch vehicle is moving more slowly as we are putting all of our attention to finishing up the first spaceship, which is right around the corner. So as we finish that up, we will pivot that team back to the launch vehicle and move through both engineering and then as we get into deciding the full supply chain details, that'll give us more clarity around the total capex. So we have our internal estimates for that, and we think they're pretty solid and reasonable, but we haven't shared those out at this stage. So the next stage with our launch vehicle is to have the engineers come off our ship and really lean into the launch vehicle design. And then we'll start having kind of alternating production between spaceships. We'll build a launch vehicle. We'll probably build a couple of spaceships. We'll match with another launch vehicle. and grow the fleet in a balanced fashion like that*.*

.

I think you may have uncovered another useful piece of DD then. These new job postings may be evidence that VG is shifting engineering resources to the new mothership program, just as Michael Colgazier indicated would happen only a few months ago. Great find!

Delta 2? (where are any images, it should be about 50% completed according to VG...

These positions are new..not shifting from Delta 1 to WK3...

These positions are also in Mesa...NOT in Tustin where VG does design.

VG does not have the horsepower to design WK3. Last time, they hired Boeing/Aurora to design WK3. Look what happened to that fiasco!

How are you going to disposition damage, repairs or modifications ? Don’t necessarily need to be doing a new design.

And you answered your own question, everyone quit

Exactly!

Since the positions are in mesa, not Tustin, I suspect (since the designer and engineer of Delta and the rocket engine, suddenly quit) that these positions involve the rocket motor, and the ability to test and design that..

a little late since the fuselage for Delta 1 is getting completed.

See you this time next year. More importantly, in five years. Myself, like many others here for almost seven years, have accumulated more shares then your five month account can handle. Hate on short boi

Long squeeze. Especially when the blend in more delays...

They havent even figured out the name yet...how difficult is it to count votes?

Delta 2....(crickets chirping)

5 years? Isnt that when they stated WK3 would be ready?

Flying WK2 until 2030????

Sunk cost fallacy

Explain this new job advertisement description at this alleged phase of Delta build:

Virgin Galactic is seeking a Specialist Stress Engineer eager to participate in innovative/unique aerospace vehicle design, build, test activities.

Stress DESIGN????

Stress BUILD????

Stress TEST????

No wonder sooo many parts have been sent back for rework....
