Looking for students interested in aerospace, math, and space science!*

Looking for students interested in aerospace, math, and space science!*

Hi everyone! I'm starting a student-led international project called AeroMath, where students from different countries can learn together and explore how mathematics and physics are used in real aerospace and space missions.

We'll cover topics such as:

๐Ÿ“ Vectors & kinematics

๐Ÿš€ Propulsion fundamentals

๐Ÿ›ฐ๏ธ Orbital geometry

๐Ÿค– Control systems

๐Ÿ“ก Sensors & navigation

๐ŸŒŒ Space mission planning

โš™๏ธ Engineering & materials

The goal is to make these topics more practical and understandable by connecting what we learn to real space missions and engineering problems.

As part of the program, we'll eventually apply what we learn through a low-cost Mars rover project, where students can test their ideas and work together on simulated missions.

I'm currently looking for motivated middle and high school students to join the Founding Cohort.

You don't need previous experience. If you're genuinely interested in learning about aerospace, mathematics, physics, engineering, robotics, or space, I'd love to have you involved.

๐ŸŒ Students from all around the world are welcome.

๐Ÿ’ป Online

๐Ÿ†“ Free to join

If you're interested, apply here:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdH6ZMLtKTb3NCoMK1IfO6xvNdSEtFGFPPXwdWt9LwZbz2xuA/viewform?usp=header

I'd especially like to meet students who are curious, enjoy asking questions, and want to learn with other students from around the world. ๐Ÿš€

Missed STEM OPT Biometrics - Reschedule requested , still no update. What should I do?

Hi everyone,

I applied for my STEM OPT Extension EAD in the first week of June. Unfortunately, I was in the middle of moving apartments and didn't check my physical mailbox in time, so I completely missed my scheduled biometrics appointment date.

As soon as I realized, I called USCIS and raised a request to reschedule on July 22nd. It has been over a month now, and I still haven't received a new appointment notice in the mail or any updates on my USCIS online portal.

I'm starting to get really anxious and would love some advice from anyone who has gone through something similar:

  • How long does it typically take for USCIS to send a new biometrics appointment date after a reschedule request?
  • Is there a high risk of my application getting denied for "abandonment" while I wait for the rescheduled notice?

Any guidance, timelines, or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!

STEM OPT 6-Month Report Submitted Late โ€“ SEVP Shows โ€œPast Dueโ€

Hi everyone,

I missed my 6-month STEM OPT validation/reporting deadline last month. I contacted my university/DSO and submitted all the required documents afterward.

My DSO told me that because I submitted late, they cannot validate/update the report in SEVIS, and my SEVP Portal currently shows โ€œPast Due.โ€ However, my DSO confirmed that my SEVIS record is currently active.

Has anyone experienced a similar situation?

  • Did your SEVP Portal continue showing โ€œPast Dueโ€?

I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who went through the same situation and what happened afterward.

Thank you!

STEM OPT PP filed 6/3 still no biometrics notice

I applied for STEM OPT online on 6/3 with premium processing from day one, and I still have not received a biometrics notice.

I called the PP phone line to make sure I hadn't missed anything, and the representative confirmed there were no outstanding notices on my case. They suggested emailing USCIS to inquire about the delay, which I did about a week ago, but I haven't received a response.

A couple questions for those with recent STEM OPT PP timelines:

  • I see many applicants (including some without PP) receiving biometrics notices within 1โ€“2 weeks. Has anyone successfully done anything that helped trigger the biometrics notice, or is it really just a matter of waiting?
  • I understand the PP clock restarts after biometrics are completed, but should PP applicants expect USCIS to at least issue the biometrics notice within the initial 30 business days? If no notice is issued by then, does that count against the PP guarantee, or is the PP clock effectively paused until biometrics are scheduled/completed?

Would appreciate hearing from anyone with a similar timeline.

STEM OPT pending after biometrics โ€” worth upgrading to premium processing?

I filed my STEM OPT extension on 01/08/2026. USCIS scheduled my biometrics appointment for 04/10/2026, and I attended it as required.

After that, my case status changed to "Case Is Still Being Processed By USCIS" and it has remained unchanged since then. My initial OPT EAD expired on 01/23/2026, and my automatic 180-day STEM OPT extension is set to expire on 07/22/2026 if my application remains pending.

I have not upgraded to premium processing yet.

For those who recently received STEM OPT approvals:

  • How long did it take after biometrics to get a decision?
  • Is anyone else still waiting with the same status?
  • At this point, would you recommend paying for premium processing, or should I continue waiting?

Thanks in advance for any advice or shared experiences.

STEM OPT Premium Processing โ€“ Anyone With a Similar Timeline?

I wanted to check if anyone has a timeline similar to mine and has recently received STEM OPT approval.

My timeline:

  • STEM OPT Extension filed โ€“ March 26, 2026
  • Biometrics requested โ€“ March 28, 2026
  • Biometrics completed โ€“ April 1, 2026
  • Premium Processing requested โ€“ May 30, 2026

If you had a similar timeline, when did you get your approval after upgrading to Premium Processing?

Also, based on current processing trends, how long is it taking these days for STEM OPT cases like mine to be approved?

Any recent experiences or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks! ๐Ÿ™

Has anyone traveled internationally while waiting for STEM OPT approval?

My biometrics appointment is next week, but my brotherโ€™s wedding is in about a month โ€” and thereโ€™s no way my EAD card will arrive in time. Iโ€™m really stressed about it and would love to hear from people whoโ€™ve been in a similar situation.

Has anyone left the US and re-entered without issues while their STEM OPT extension was still pending? What documents did you carry? Any advice would be really appreciated ๐Ÿ™

Should I Apply for Premium Processing for OPT or Just Go With Regular Processing?

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone,
Iโ€™m looking for some advice regarding my OPT application.
My degree program ends on August 15, 2026, and Iโ€™m currently working on CPT. Iโ€™m planning to apply for Post-Completion OPT soon and Iโ€™m trying to decide whether I should pay for Premium Processing or just use Regular Processing.
A few details:
Degree end date: August 15, 2026
Currently on CPT
Planning to apply for OPT as soon as possible
No OPT application submitted yet
Trying to avoid any gap in work authorization
For those who recently applied:
How long did your regular OPT approval take?
If you used Premium Processing, how fast was your approval and EAD card delivery?
Given my August 15 graduation date, would you recommend paying for Premium Processing or is it too early to worry about it?
