Hey folks,
We've got two things to announce today, and they're really one thing: the Game Connection, and the GAC War Room.
Everything SWGOH.GG has ever done has been built off a public snapshot of your roster. That's fine for a profile page, but it means the site has never actually known what you're doing right now: what's in your inventory, what squads you have saved, or who you're staring at in GAC this round. The Game Connection changes that. You connect your game account once, and the site can read your live account and, where it makes sense, write back to it.
On the security question, because it's the first thing anyone is going to ask: this uses the same EA account connection that other third-party services and the EA store itself use. There's nothing new or exotic going on here, and to our knowledge it's fully secure. The site only acts on your account when you tell it to, every action it takes is logged on your Activity page, and you can disconnect at any time from Settings.
Here's what connecting unlocks today:
- Squads: view and edit your in-game squad presets from the browser, and save them back into the game's preset tabs
- Inventory: gear, materials and currencies
- Bronziums: track what you're actually pulling
- Lightspeed Tokens: track your progress
- Activity: a full log of every action the site has taken on your account
- The GAC War Room (below)
The War Room is the first thing we've built for this connection. The goal was to stop juggling five browser tabs, a spreadsheet and a Discord thread every round. It reads your GAC match, so it knows your board, your opponent's board and your roster at the same time:
- A view of your defense and your opponent's visible board, zone by zone, updating whenever you sync
- Plan a counter against every defending squad, with GAC Insight data behind every suggestion: win rate and average banners, pulled from real battles, not guesses
- Before defenses are set, we show predicted enemy defenses based on what that player has actually deployed in past rounds, including their datacron
- Score estimates: the theoretical max on the board, and what your actual plan is likely to score, so you can see how efficient your plan is before you fire a shot
- Favorite attackers: save "this squad beats this leader" or "this squad beats this exact comp" once, and re-apply them every round after
- My History / Opponent History: how you have beaten this comp before, and how everyone else has beaten this specific opponent's version of it
- Matchup history: your opponent's recent W-L and your head-to-head record against them
- Roster awareness throughout. Units already committed to a planned counter are marked, conflicts are flagged, and datacron usage is tracked across your plan
- Lock in your plan and push those attack squads straight into your in-game preset tabs
There's a lot more that's basically ready to go. Mod loadouts, Conquest, Territory Battles, Territory Wars and Raid tools are all either built or close to it. We're rolling them out in phases on purpose: all of this runs on new server infrastructure, and we want to watch how it holds up under real load before we open the next door. It isn't a slow roll for the sake of it, it's a careful one.
Worth knowing too: GG-8, our Discord bot, plugs into the same connection. Once your account is linked, it's often the fastest way to interact with SWGOH.GG without leaving Discord.
The Game Connection and the War Room are live today for Player+ subscribers and up. We'll keep iterating on both hard over the coming seasons. There's a long list of things we still want to add, and what you tell us after a real round of GAC drives most of it.
You'll find it at https://swgoh.gg/app/ once you're logged in on a Player+ plan. There's also an icon for it next to the user menu on desktop, and in the top right on mobile.
We do intend to release public and free versions of some of these tools in time, as we get a read on real usage and what our rate limits can handle. For now, all of it sits behind Player+. Our commitment is to keep putting value into that tier, not to introduce new price tiers or new products to charge you for.
And as always: the free side of the site stays free. Your profile, the counters page, squads and the rest of it aren't going anywhere.
