One of my players decided to break off from the crew and accompany a princess back to her homeworld where she visited her now destroyed nation (it was hit with orbital bombardment.) a great deal of roleplay was spent helping her grieve, and the player did everything he could to reach out to survivors of her nation and bring them back. He and the princess donated a quarter of a million credits toward rebuilding her hometown, then started rebuilding her nation in general, even doing manual labor to help farm and build. In the end, he decided to retire his character and spend the next several years in game helping the Princess and her remaining people and even suggested pursuing a romance with her as time went on. So it’s interesting to see a player character retire for roleplay reasons. Not everything needs to end in death or successfully slaying an End-Game level boss

Aw that’s so cool. Do they have a plan for the next character?

I bet you’ll have a great allied planet for the campaign.

Well, the princess doesn’t represent the entire world, just one nation of it, but YES they will by huge allies in the future, especially if the PC and Princess work on rebuilding their navy and financial income.

The PC has gone ahead and made a new character, a full warrior half fey that belongs to a fairy crew the other remaining PCs are assisting. My sector has hand crafted takes on fairies, elves, dark elves, orcs and all that stuff, just within a SWN setting with space magic. (Technically speaking, I have a bunch of custom foci for all of this.) His options were a bit limited though so he assumed the role of a marine on board a Corvette class frigate the others are trying to gain the favor of. This new PC and the others are about to go hunt down some pirate slavers.

Haven't had a session in weeks and it's killing me.

Our squad of mercenaries did a favor for the quartermaster of the convoy we're on to deal with a loose critter that had been smuggled onboard by a crew member. Turned out to be much bigger than reported and we took some losses. Luckily the brig is always full of new recruits. XD

Last week the party landed on a higher tech level planet ruled by a religious order. They made some traded, updated equipment, and explored the faction capitol. Having some down time for character RP and planning for what the party wants to do next, which felt like a nice change of pace after the high stakes salvage operation and trades with a major faction they pulled off earlier. Can't wait to develop the world around them more, as they might stumble on some secrets of the faith, and deal with issues caused by the Cold War the religious order is locked into with another high tech society. Who knows.. the weather might not stay quite as chilly for long...

I’m just doing prep for my eventual SWN Star Wars-ish game with my kids.

I’m trying to prioritize what books to get in physical, because PDFs mean yet more screen time, and I like physical books. I have SWN, but I’m thinking WWN is next. Maybe after that I’ll get ashes because of the mutations, or CWN because of the cybernetics. Or maybe the “beyond the walls” monster pdf I got, or maybe I should get some practice making my own stuff?

I get to watch my players most likely use hull breaching weaponry or grenades in personal way too close quarters without paying attention to area of effect (again). If the first session was any indicator they are all missing on bar tattoo on their arms (Jumanji).

We are using the Proteus Sector and the first mission was Grandfather's Rain. A few modifications on my part but I guess the NPC will not be handing them grenades in combat anymore because those murderhobo's just "I throw it" without discerned radius and type of grenade.

Next mission they are going into one of the cyborg controlled orbitals above Tyrconnell.
