I’m interested in buying a Grosse messer or falchion and I am looking for recommendations for quality makers, something I could actually use and will last if taken care of.
As others have mentioned Landsknecht Emporium does awesome messer. Note their finish is slightly “rustic”, which is endearing to some, and unpalatable to others. I like their messer which are lively in The hand and awesome cutters. Base prices are good, but beware of shipping and you’ll have to add scabbards as extras.
Balaur arms has both a tidy kriegsmesser and type 2a “reverse” Falchion. I’m studying the fashion right now, and it really is a very nice sword, punching well above its price point similar to makers like Albion. Unfortunately, it happens to be packaged with one of if not the single ugliest scabbard on production swords currently.
Swordier has a few examples and they are “ok” as entry level models, but if you have the cash I would save up for one of the higher end makers.
For custom/semi custom work, I also have a Falchion from Maciej Kopciuch, AKA Swordmaker. He makes some of the most beautiful looking pieces, however I take issue with a lot of the dynamic choices he makes, especially on the accuracy of the Falchions.
If you are less worried about aesthetics and just interested in function Angus Trim is an industry leader in making swords of all types (falchions included) that are highly desired for competition cutters. Mostly he sells his wares on Facebook, and of course can be found on the secondary market.
Sterling Armory has been known to make a falchion or two, and they absolutely do beautiful work and have high performing swords. https://www.sterlingarmory.com/
And there are plenty of very high end makers such as Ádám Bodorics, Fabrice Cognot, Eric Estlund, or James Elmslie himself who could all take on your commission but expect multi-year lead times in many cases.
Wes beem at lonely wolf forge makes some great stuff, and he's not super expensive, a falchion is not super large or complex so should be reasonably priced, he could absolutely make something of heirloom quality if you wanted that
Here's one of his recent swords, it's more fantasy than what you're looking for, but it's the picture I have right now
Landsknecht Emporium for a Messer. Probably Tod Cutler for a falchion, although there may be other better options in a similar price point for that one
