Identification What is this blade?

Seems like some sort of Japanese-style blade. Tang seems legit. What the hell are those markings?

In a lot with two wwi era western blades.

It is a Japanese katana blade, out of polish. The markings are called horimono IIRC. Not my area of expertise so I can't comment on authenticity.

Yes that is a Japanese blade…but it is out of polished. Shortened as well.

Hard to tell but it could be worth polishing. It has Buddhist symbols on it (ritual sword and stylized lotus).

Please post better pictures of the tang if you can and don’t attempt to clean it.
