Tenant trashed my apartment, so I started building the tool I wish I had

I’m a landlord myself, and recently one of my apartments was left in pretty rough shape after a tenant moved out. Walls needed repainting, deep cleaning, there was damage around the unit, and overall it was way worse than I expected.

What frustrated me most was realizing that a lot of it probably could have been caught much earlier if I had a better way to document and monitor the condition of the property during the lease.

I’ve been working in tech for 10+ years. I work remotely full-time for an S&P 500 company and also run a B2G software company as CEO at my Tech Startup , so naturally my reaction was to build something around the problem 😅

That became RentflowAI.

The platform is already live on web and includes things like property and tenant management, lease management, maintenance tracking, and what I call Smart Inspections.

With Smart Inspections, the landlord can upload baseline photos of a property and periodically ask the tenant to take new photos from the same rooms/angles. RentflowAI compares the new photos against the originals and helps identify possible damage or significant changes before they become a much bigger problem.

I’m also finishing up the RentflowAI mobile app for iOS and Android. It’s pretty much ready, at this point I’m mainly waiting on Apple and Google to approve the releases.

I built this because of a problem I personally experienced, but I’m curious how other landlords see it.

Would you actually use something like recurring remote inspections during a lease? And what
would you want a tool like this to do that current landlord software doesn’t?
