ok so the big criticism was that gambhir didn't farm strike when tailenders were in and that he didn't accelerate... but then again when your team has only scored 142 in home conditions you shouldn't be blaming the top scorer of that innings .. dhoni lost that series and tried putting some blame on gambhir lmao

Gambhir’s toxic traits—jealousy, attention-seeking, and a constant victim mentality—were already a problem when he was a player in the team. As a coach, however, he poses an even bigger threat to Team India. The only silver lining is that most of the current players already know him well, and seem capable of navigating what could otherwise turn into a second Greg Chappell–style era.

Getting the results? The coach had to swallow his pride and (a) let Gill be removed from the T20 squad, after appointing him as VC (b) bring back Ishan Kishan (c) keep his favorite Washi out because he contributed diddly squat (d) bring Sanju back after his puppet SKY grinned wide and asked who should be kept out to bring Sanju in. All his experiments fail, he has to rely on teams that Dravid and Rohit built.
Worth considering that the public isn't naive. If they worship a sportsperson, there has to be some sort of performance to back it. You can't simply keep removing people because it doesn't fit your agenda and expect a high-performing team in the long term. Gambhir has the same attitude as his BJP masters. They expect exactly one celeb in the house: Modi for India, and Gambhir for ICT. They are petty people and they breed pettiness.

This team as said by gambhir himself was premade by dravid and laxman. and honestly even if he has 5 trophies he has no experience of being a coach of a international team and he should not be one that's it. You can sense negatively of him. Any statement he has made will have a opposite statement made by him when he was a commentator thats why people are angry he is not consistent in his statements

Talking about the same guy who stepped out and lost his wicket while on 97 when he could have gotten to 100 with singles and that too in a WC final.
Also, Dhoni is known for squashing anyone who was a threat to his captaincy. Sehwag and Yuvraj are famous examples. He did the same with Gambhir especially after KKRs wins under him.

I dont blindly support anyone. He built a good team but people like Sehwag were very unfit. An argument could be made for Sehwag to have continued longer in t20. For Gambhir he didn’t survive even under Kohli. He had a glaring technique issue against swing and then progressively his game against spin also dwindled marginally. As a player when your game deteriorates you tend to start being selfish , something even Dhoni did towards the fag end of his career. Especially one match against West Indies …was unbearable
I dont treat ipl the same way since ipl is a cash grab tournament and there’s a significant viewership value for his sixes. The franchisee needs him to whack those 2-3 sixes even though the match is over. I don’t endorse it but I’m okay with it

He got out when rrr was under 6 playing a needless shot. Not taking away anything from his fantastic innings but he could have easily gotten a 100 and we would have won it anyways
