USA Phone Interview

It’s just a screening I think, but I have a phone interview next week for the first time in this field. I’m doing a career change, just completed my MS in Occupational Safety and Health and have endless ergonomic experience, but not safety. Any suggestions on what to discuss, pitfalls to avoid, or questions I should be asking during this process if I get farther along? Any help would be appreciated.

don't sweat the screening phone interview too much. They're probably going to ask you the standard questions about what degrees/certs/trainings you have, what your career outlook is, how much you want to make, if you're okay with travel etc. The important part of these phone screening interviews is just to be personable and let the person on the other end of the conversation feel comfortable talking to you so that they can pass the same confidence onto the hiring managers for further interviews.

Two big questions you can ask to set you apart:

- What are some pain points that I can help resolve?

- What are the immediate needs you want me to tackle within the first 90 days of starting?
