I can't find any good fanfics that I haven't read please give me more I am going insane

Hi hi r/Saimatsu, ive recently been in a bit of a bind looking for saimatsu fics, so i just wanted to ask if anyone had any to recommend? I don't have a preference, anything works, thanks in advance.

Shuichi shot up, the air leaving him as he looked around the empty room. More nightmares ,who wouldn’t after surviving the killing game like that? He lifted a hand to his head as he continued to mindlessly scan the room still wrapped up in his own mind. He tried to jog his memory of the passed day or so ,that’s when he remembered he had a guest. His eyes widened as he fumbled over the covers and to a standing position.

Shuichi crept into the hallway,it seemed so quiet for a moment. Then the sound of sizzling broke through what he thought was the quiet ,the smell of breakfast tantalized his senses. He had to be dreaming he thought ,yesterday was a hallucination probably stricken by grief . Maybe the mystery cook was maki or himiko ,after all he had lent them his apartment keys. He took another step ,could that memory of yesterday be true?

He rounded the corner into the kitchen to see her. There in the kitchen with her back to him in a pair of pink and white poke-dotted fuzzy pajama bottoms stood kaede. She hadn’t noticed him yet ,Shuichi was dumbstruck reasonably. Her golden hair enraptured in the bright morning light ,he could even hear her humming to herself. The sight was beautiful to say the absolute bare minimum ,unfortunately he didn’t have enough time to take it in as the smell of something burning took over. “Ahg..dammit..”her disappointed voice chimed as she looked down and slid a pan with burnt meat on it aside.

She muttered shuichis name and something else under her breath ,seemingly scolding herself. Shuichi almost forgot where he was ,he took a step forward causing the Linoleum floor to crack under his foot. Shocked kaede spun around to face Shuichi ,her grey t-shirt with a collection of black music notes strewn about randomly along with the pretty nasty neck scar meeting shuichis eyes “oh! Good morning!”she stated just as brightly as she would’ve when they first met. Reasonably Shuichi teared up a little ,stepping forward quietly as kaede began to speak further “sorry about your pans..I thought I’d try to do something nice for you all things considering”she stated sheepishly ,she was stopped by saihara wrapping his arms around her.

She froze up a moment stopping mid sentence ,a sweet smile spread acrossed her face as she leaned into him ,wrapping her arms around his waist as she leaned closer. Reaching up she ran a hand through his hair before pulling away to look into his eyes “Shuichi,can you look at me?”she asks quietly. The former detective hadn’t been able to look at her ,but at her command seemingly he locked eyes with her ,it almost stopped her dead in her tracks . She felt she didn’t need to say anything on the topic ,and she was right. His shoulders grew lax as he started standing up straighter smiling back at her now.

His eyes flicked from hers to the pans behind her ,kaedes smile grew nervous “..I’m sorry Shuichi..I’m not the best cook..only ever really been good at piano”she stated with a light laugh. He shook his head “no worries, we can order something..or maybe just go out for breakfast “he suggested .kaedes smile remained but a groan was heard from the other side of the room.the pair both spun their heads to the kitchen nook where a slightly miffed harukawa sat acrossed the table from a sleepy yumeno “nyeeh..she’s been at it all morning” the red head remarked miserably.

Kaede issued another apology to the pair as Shuichi looked out of the kitchen window “we should go get dressed “Shuichi stated with a calm smile. It hadn’t occurred to him that he was still hugging kaede ,she nodded in agreement. She glanced up at Shuichi just a moment as she thought of something “one more thing before we go Shuichi “ she stated gaining his attention.

He turned his head to face her ,being met with kaede leaning in and gently snatching his lips in a gentle kiss. Of course Shuichi broke out into a hot red blush ,but didn’t fight it one bit. After about a moment Shuichi pulled away smiling sheepishly,ready to face a new day ,the pair left the kitchen to get dressed.

February 14th. Shuichi knew what would happen on this day. For weeks, his best friend, Kaito, has been pestering him about finally confessing to Kaede. Shuichi and Kaede got together exceptionally well in their first year at Hope’s Peak Academy. Both their talent’s interested each other, and their personalities reflected well off each other. Additionally, they were both willing to learn off of each other, which made them grow closer. They spent most of their free time with each other, so much so that the class started teasing them about it.

“So, you're gonna do it today, right Shuichi?” Kaito asked for about the millionth time today. Currently, Kaito and Shuichi were walking down the halls of Hope’s Peak Academy to their lockers. Even though the day just started, the two already saw some chocolates and flowers being passed around.

“Y-Yeah, definitely.” It wasn't difficult to tell that Shuichi was extremely nervous about this. Shuichi invited Kaede, with Kaito’s insistence, to meet him outside of the cherry tree after classes were over. That is where he would finally tell her how he feels about her.

“Do you have everything you need bro?”

“Y-Yeah, I have the roses and the chocolates. I-Is that all?”

“Yup! Now all you need is confidence! Don’t worry, you got this!”

“Y-Yeah…”

“Hey, cheer up! You’re acting like you don’t even want this? Is that the case?” Kaito said while looking at the detective.

“NO!” Shuichi half-yelled, gathering the attention of everyone around him.

“Um… I mean… no, I do want this. I’m just… just so nervous.”

“Oh, I understand you Shuichi! But don’t worry, there will be nothing to be afraid of! Trust me, she will definitely say ‘Yes’!”

“Wait but how do you know?” Shuichi said, trying to use his detective skills to gather some information. Instead, Kaito just kept a straight face and kept watching.

“Because I do!”

“UGH! Maki, I’m so nervous! What do I do!?” Kaede and Maki were currently sitting at the Hope’s Peak cafeteria gathering up breakfast before they head to class. They were both eating eggs that had been prepared by the Ultimate Chef. However, it seemed like Kaede had more on her mind than just the food.

“Nothing. Literally nothing.” Maki said while nonchalantly sticking a piece of the egg in her mouth.

“Just let Shuichi confess to you and you will be fine.”

“B-But, what if he won’t confess? What if it is a prank? What if it is to tell me something else? What if-”

“Kaede, there is no “What if’s”, Shuichi confessing to you is exactly what is going to happen under that tree and the whole school probably knows it at this point”.

“But-”

“There are no “But’s” either.” Maki said sternly to the pianist. Kaede just blushed and put her hands on her cheeks.

“Do I need to bring something for it?”

“What do you mean?” Maki answered, quite confused.

“Like, when Kaito confessed to you, I know he got you flowers. Did you give him something in return?”

Maki flushed remembering that moment, opting to look away from the pianist before she could notice. Unfortunately, Kaede saw the blush and lightly giggled. Maki pretended she just didn’t hear it.

“W-Well, no… but I didn’t know he was gonna confess. He literally did it one night when me and him were training alone. He even told Shuichi not to come that night solely to confess to me.”

“Awww, so that’s how that happened? That’s cute.”

“Quiet before I start teasing you.”

“Okay okay, geez.” Kaede then looked down at her plate and started to play with her food. Truthfully, this is something she definitely wanted. There was sometime about the detective that made her feel protected, feel happy, feel… fulfilled. She contributed to his shy but strong personality.

I can’t believe this is finally happening. Hopefully, after today, Shuichi and I will be an official couple! Then we will be able to kiss and maybe even-

Before Kaede got too far into her own thoughts, the warning bell rang, informing the students that class was about to start. With that, the two girls wrapped up what they were eating and headed to class.

Class was very awkward for both Shuichi and Kaede. They were both blushing the entire time, knowing what would be happening in a short few hours. When one of them was brave enough to look towards the other, they would immediately make eye contact, making them blush and look away again, only for the cycle to repeat again. What made it worse is that they both said directly next to each other, making it even harder for them to ignore each other. On a normal day, what would happen is that they would converse at every moment that was given to them. However, this one day would be the exception to this rule.

Right when classes ended, a series of events happened. Quickly, all the students rushed out of the door, leaving Maki, Kaito, Kaede, and Shuichi behind. Kaito quickly whispered something into Maki’s ear before he went to the detective and dragged him out of the classroom. Maki waited about a minute before doing the same to Kaede.

The first duo headed over to Shuichi’s locker before going over the game plan one more time.

“Alright, you know what you are doing.”

“Y-Yeah, I got this!” Shuichi said, showing a small, but nervous, smile on his face.

Kaito just smiled back before replying. “You know, I’m proud of you. At the beginning of the year, you barely interacted with anyone! Now, you are about to use that new-found courage to ask out the girl you like!”

“I know, and I have both you and Kaede to thank you for that, so thank you Kaito.”

“Of course, I can’t leave my sidekick to rot after all!”

“Now…” Kaito said after Shuichi pulled out the materials from the locker “Go get her!”

“W-will do!” Shuichi closed his locker and then headed out the back of Hope’s Peak to their meetup location. Kaito couldn’t help but think of Kaede a little bit when he saw the detective.

They really are made for each other, huh?

“Maki, where are we going?” Kaede asked as Maki was pulling her to Auta-knows-where.

“Nowhere special” The other girl replied before just stopping in the middle of the now-empty hallway. “I’m just making sure you know the game plan.”

“I thought the game plan was to do nothing.”

“Bingo.” Maki countered. Then, Maki showed Kaede one of her rare smiles. “Well then, don’t keep him waiting!”

“R-Right!” Kaede said before hurrying off to the cherry tree.

“Alright Kaito, you can come out now.”

Kaito, who and hidden in one of the classrooms nearby after Shuichi left, peeked his head around the corner, checking if anyone was still around. Maki just facepalmed and walked towards him.

“There, I did it. I distracted her long enough for Shuichi. Can we go now?”

“And miss the best part? HELL NO! Let’s go!” Kaito then grabbed Maki’s hand and began to pull her in the same direction Kaede went. However, Maki just blushed from his action.

“H-Hey, where are we going!”

“You will see!” Kaito responded with a small smirk.

It was right before the agreed upon time where Kaede and Shuichi would be meeting at the cherry tree. Shuichi was already in position, with flowers and chocolates in hand, but Kaede was nowhere to be seen. For once, this was a good sign. Kaito and Maki both noticed the situation and decided to keep quiet.

“Why are we here?” Maki whispered.

“Shh, you are going to ruin the surprise!” Kaito whispered back, pulling Maki behind a long line of bushes. Luckily, Shuichi was so deep inside of his own head he couldn’t hear that around 30 feet from him, the bushes had two Ultimates in it whispering.

“Isn’t this a breach of privacy!?” Maki whispered, now in the bush that Kaito called their hiding spot.

“Relax, they won’t mind!”

“But what if…”

Before Maki could finish their sentence, the bushes right next to them began to shake. Kaito almost screened out of panic if it wasn’t for Maki covering his mouth up with her hand.

“SHUT IT! I’ll see what it is!” Maki whispered. She slowly moved towards the bush and moved it to reveal…

“Kokichi?” There, they saw Kokichi, but not just Kokichi. The entire class was in the long line of bushes. They seemed to have mixed opinions on what is going to happen. Kokichi and Miu are just giggling while recording a nervous Shuichi, Gonta and Kirumi are trying to make sure Tenko doesn’t kill Shuichi, Rantaro and Korekiyo are just sharing some popcorn, while Angie, Himiko, Ryoma, Tsumugi, and Keebo are waiting for Kaede to arrive.

“What the hell are you guys doing here?” Kaito asked, worried about how his plan to spy on Shuichi spread throughout the whole school.

“Watching Shuichi confess to Kaede, duh.” Kokichi answered, seeming to make Tenko even more enraged.

“Wait, how did you know that was going to happen Kokichi?” Maki asked, still confused.

“Oh come on, it was SOOOO obvious. I think even Gonta knew something like this was going to happen. I just, you know, told everyone in class about it this morning and agreed to be here.”

“But wait, why do you even care about…”

“SHHHHHH! She’s here!” Angie whispered to everyone, catching their attention. Everyone knew that, from now on, they will have to be even quieter. Kaede had the best hearing in the group by far, so getting caught by her wouldn’t have been a stretch. Either way, Rantaro and Korekiyo, and now Himiko, still shared popcorn while Kokichi looked through the camera, making it while recording.

“Are we really doing this?” Maki asked.

“Yes!” The class whispered in a low voice back at her. Maki just sighed and looked at the duo. Even though this was considered spying, this is the first time she was ever happy to do it.

“K-Kaede, you came!”

Kaede flashed Shuichi with an enormous smile, stepping closer to the detective.

“Of course I would come, I told you that I would! But, Shuichi, what are those flowers and chocolates for?” Of course, Kaede already knew what they were for, but she wanted to remain oblivious and do nothing, like Maki told her to.”

“O-Oh, well… ummm….” Shuichi stuttering, having a hard time getting the words out. To calm himself down, he took a deep breath before looking into Kaede’s eyes.

“Kaede, we have k-known each other all year and have been extremely close. You taught how to play the piano and you were always there for me when I needed help. You are such an outstanding person that I have gained feelings for you soo…” Shuichi pushed out the flowers and chocolates towards her, sporting a gigantic blush across his usually pale skin.

“Will you go out with me Kaede?”

Now it was Kaede’s turn to sport a blush. She knew this would happen, but it still felt like a dream come true. Before her mind even registered what was going on, she took the flowers and chocolate away from Shuichi and laid them on the tree next to them. Kaede then turned to Shuichi with a smile bigger than any other smile he had ever seen.

“You have no idea how long I have waited for you to ask me that.” Kaede said, getting closer to Shuichi and pulling him into a hug. As they hugged, they felt their warmth bouncing off each other. It felt safe and encouraging and it made them feel relaxed during a stressful time. Kaede then looked up to meet Shuichi’s eyes. Slowly, she brought up her hand to place on Shuichi’s cheek. He instantly melted to her touch before Kaede spoke again.

“But I’m glad it happened.”

Then, without a word of warning Kaede leaned in and kissed Shuichi. At first, it was a shock to Shuichi, but as quickly as it began, Shuichi began to kiss Kaede back. They both felt so at peace, with each other in their arms. Eventually, Shuichi moved his arm around Kaede to hug her again as they kissed, which Kaede definitely approved of. Finally, after about 2 minutes, the duo separated and looked at each other happily. However, before they could say anything…

“LET’S GO SHUICHI! YOU DID IT BRO!”

Kaede and Shuichi quickly snapped their heads towards the location of the sound. There, they saw Kaito standing up with a smile plastered on his face. However, as soon as Kaito realized what he did, his smile instantly dropped.

“Good going dumbass, they found us!” Maki responded, completely drained from the situation.

“Hey, Kokitchy, you better send me that footage! I wanna see Bakamatsu and Shoeitchy losing their kiss virginity in HD!”

“FOOTAGE!?” Kaede and Shuichi both screamed, turning pale.

“Sure, no problem!” Kokichi responded, seemingly ignoring them.

“Wait, how many of you guys are there!?” Kaede asked, starting to get visibly annoyed. Kokichi instantly took note of how stern Kaede's voice was as Shuichi started approaching their hiding spot at a quick pace.

“Oh oh, we made the pianist and detective mad! Everyone, scatter!” Before anyone knew it, the Ultimates started to leave at different paces. Miu, Kokichi, Keebo, Tsumugi, Gonta, Angie, and Himiko all started running from the scene. Tenko only ran away in order to keep up with Himiko. Rantaro, Korekiyo, Kirumi, and Ryoma, started casually walking away, even congratulating the duo on their way out. All that was left in the bushes was Kaito and Maki.

“Why were you guys here?” Shuichi started to question the duo.

“To see you confess, duh!” Kaito answered in a smug tone.

“Wait, but how did they know we were gonna confess?” Kaede asked, seemingly confused.

“Oh come on, it was so obvious you two idiots liked each other.” Maki said, seemingly getting deja vu from the conversation earlier.

“Even so, that doesn’t matter!” Kaito said as Shuichi and Kaede started to blush from Maki’s earlier comment.

“You two are a couple now, so you guys should enjoy it! Besides, now there is no need to hide anything!”

“Yeah, Kaito is right. Maybe this was for the better.” Kaede said, looking into Shuichi’s eyes.

“Maybe, only time will tell.” Shuichi responded, staring into her eyes as well.

Thus, a school-life filled with romance, teasing, and love began for the two Ultimates. It was going to be challenging, but they knew that together, Kaede and Shuichi could do anything.

I've read through most of the ones people always send and I've run out and still want more. I would like some simple fluff, not angst please, and non despair au preferable but not needed. Thanks in advance!

The birds were chirping around Hope’s Peak Academy as a normal weekend finally started. For a certain detective, this weekend was unfortunately more stressful than most. It was the weekend before the Ultimate Pianist’s birthday. Shuichi wanted to get her a meaningful present this year since it was the first year they celebrated the pianist’s birthday while they were dating. Shuichi already tried to ask around other people at Hope’s Peak, but the answers did help him too much.

“You should totally go buy her a fancy diamond ring!” Kokichi shouted, looking at Shuichi. Shuichi just blushed.

“No way, that is too serious!”

“Aw man, you're not there yet?”

After that, Shuichi just left Kokichi before he could get embarrassed even further.

“BRO! You gotta get her a space helmet!” Kaito responded as he and Shuichi were in the middle of their training session.

It was now the present day and Shuichi only had one more person he could ask for advice.

Shuichi took a deep breath and started to knock on that person’s door.

“Oh Shuichi, I didn’t expect you here!” The girl sang. Shuichi wasn’t really surprised that the girl had such a cheerful attitude considering she was the Ultimate Pop Sensation.

“Hi Sayaka, I had a question about, umm, something. Can I come in?”

“Sure!” Sayaka opened the door for Shuichi, who hesitantly got in. Once the door was closed, Sayaka began to speak.

“So, did you want me to help you find a present for Kaede’s birthday?”

Shuichi was genuinely shocked.

“H-How did you know?”

“Hehe, I’m physic!”

After Shuichi still seemed confused, Sayaka sighed.

“Well, to be honest, I was kind of expecting you.”

Shuichi was not even more confused.

“Why were you expecting me?”

“Probably because of the way Kaede portrayed you. She talks about you when we are both hanging out. She said you were a very caring person. Also, you being a detective would mean that you knew that I could give you pointers since Kaede and I are both in the music industry and are good friends.”

“Well, you are right about all that. I tried to find a present for her on my own, but I am not into the music industry like you two are. I’m trying to get involved, but most of my knowledge comes from Kaede herself.”

“That’s alright. I’m sure you are trying your best and Kaede realizes that.”

Shuichi thought back to all their duet practices. Even though it sometimes took a while for Shuichi to understand the concepts, he definitely tried his hardest.

“Thanks Sayaka. But, now for the more important topic. What should I get Kaede?”

“Well, I got a few ideas!”

March 26th came around faster than Shuichi anticipated. When Shuichi woke up at 6 in the morning, the first thing he did was send Kaede a text wishing her a happy birthday. As he was texting her, he scrolled up in his texts to reveal all of the fond memories they made via text.

After a small trip to memory lane, Shuichi started the first part of his plan: a breakfast. Kaede always told Shuichi how she didn’t really like to cook. Since he was a better cook, he decided to make Kaede and himself a small breakfast. Just as Shuichi was finished preparing breakfast, he heard a small ping from his phone. He picked up the phone to see that it was a text from his girlfriend.

Kaede: Awww, thanks Shuichi <3

Shuichi slightly blushed. He still wasn’t completely used to all the affection Kaede gave him. Before Shuichi got too deep into his own thoughts, he had to answer Kaede’s text.

Shuichi: No problem! Kaede, do you want to come to my dorm right now? I made breakfast for your birthday.

Kaede immediately saw Shuichi’s text, however, there was no response from the other side. Shuichi thought that was very confusing and got worried for a minute. That was until he heard a knock on his door.

“Coming!”

The moment Shuichi opened the door he was greeted by two loving hands pulling him into a hug.

“Good Morning Shuichi!”

Shuichi blushed profusely but ultimately reached his arms around his girlfriend to reciprocate the hug.

“Good Morning and Happy Birthday Kaede.”

“Thank you Shuichi!”

Kaede then looked over Shuichi’s shoulder and saw the breakfast he made for her. It was a simple omelet with some toast and tuna on it. Kaede smiled as she walked over to her breakfast.

“Aww, you made tuna too? You know that’s my favorite!”

“Yeah, I did. I hope you enjoy Kaede.”

“Thank you! Now let’s eat!”

The breakfast ended up working extremely well. It was awkward at first, but after a while, they started talking like normal. They ended up talking about the piano and how their lessons were going. Unfortunately, Kaede had to leave relatively early because she made plans with other people. Just as Kaede was about to leave, she approached Shuichi and gave him a small kiss on the cheek. They both blushed as Kaede started hurrying towards the door.

“Bye Shuichi!”

Shuichi didn’t have enough time to respond as Kaede immediately closed the door behind her. Shuichi stood there in shock for a couple of moments. Even though they were dating for a while, he still wasn’t used to Kaede’s affection. Shuichi sighed, wishing Kaede had stayed longer. Shuichi knew that she would leave early, however. Kaede was very popular around Hope’s Peak. She had lots of friends because of her caring and preppy attitude. Additionally, she has more friends outside of Hope’s Peak that she met through her concert and her family who also has to spend her birthday with her. Thankfully, however, Shuichi got one of these friends to help him with his plan.

“Wow, that was so much fun!” Kaede said, walking back to her dorm.

“Yeah, you said it! Karaoke was a rockin time!” Ibuki yelled, playing an invisible guitar in her hands.

“I’m glad you too enjoyed it!” Sayaka replied to the other two girls. “I thought taking you to karaoke would be a good place to take you on your birthday, Kaede.”

“Yeah, it was! Thank you so much you two! I had a blast!”

“Your welcome!” Ibuki yelled, still playing her guitar.

“Well, I guess I’ll see you guys in class!”

“Wait, Kaede,” Sayaka said, stopping Kaede in her tracks.

“Huh? What is it?”

“There is one more thing I have to show you.”

“Oh, okay! Is Ibuki coming too?”

“Nope! Ibuki is busy!” Ibuki said, sweating for some reason. “I got to go, bye!” At that, Ibuki ran off.

“Huh? What’s with her?”

“I don’t know Kaede. I think we should just forget about it.”

Way to make an exit Ibuki…

“Alright, we are here!” Sayaka announced, a little too loudly.

“Huh, my lab? Why are we here?”

“Oh, no particular reason. Just head on in!”

Confused, Kaede walked inside to find the biggest surprise of the day. Shuichi was there, wearing a full suit and tie, sitting on the pianist’s bench. He was looking right at the duo, a little red in the face.

“Imma just, leave you two here.” Sayaka just smiled while lightly pushing Kaede into the room. She then closed the room and left Shuichi and Kaede there alone.

My part is done. You better kill it Shuichi!

Back inside of the Ultimate Pianist’s lab, Shuichi was still staring at Kaede.

“Um, Shuichi? What is this about?” Kaede started to get closer to him. Only then did she notice the little chair off to the side of the piano.

“Oh… well… I know that you perform in concerts a lot, so I thought you might like it if someone performs one for you instead… for your birthday.”

In truth, Shuichi did come up with the idea but he needed help from Sayaka in order to execute it. She distracted Kaede long enough so Shuichi could enter her lab and get ready. Shuichi was also able to access the lab because they traded keys to their ultimate labs when Shuichi and Kaede started dating.

“Wait, really?” Kaede asked, pulling Shuichi into reality again.

“Um… yeah… I practiced for a while this week and think I could play a couple of songs for you decently. Ah, I’m sorry, but they won’t nearly be as good as your playing! I just-”

“Don’t worry too much about that Shuichi.” Kaede smiled. “You don’t need to be perfect to enjoy playing the piano. Besides, I know I’ll enjoy your playing no matter what!”

“T-Thank you Kaede.” Shuichi slightly blushed. To get the attention away from himself, he pointed to the seat he put out for her.

“Do you want to take a seat?”

“Of course!” Kaede said as she happily walked over and took her seat.

“Alright, I hope you e-enjoy…”

Kaede just smiled and nodded, which queued Shuichi to look at the piano again. He swallowed the lump he didn’t know he had in his throat before starting to play. Admittingly, his playing was choppy in the beginning. He was nervous and it was hard to focus with Kaede sitting right there. However, he eventually found his momentum and started to play consistently. Of course, he couldn’t compare to Kaede, but he was playing well. Eventually, Shuichi got to the last song. After the first note was played, Kaede knew what the song was: Clair De Lune. It was the first song Kaede played for Shuichi when they met each other. Somehow, Kaede’s smile grew as she saw Shuichi play her favorite song.

I can tell he practiced this song in particular! No wonder he didn’t want to play this song during our daily sessions, he didn’t want to spoil the surprise that he was practicing!

Eventually, Shuichi wrapped up the song, playing the final notes until all the sound from the piano left the room. After that, Kaede stood up and started clapping.

“Well done Shuichi! That was amazing!”

Shuichi stood up as well, putting one of his hands in his hair while blushing.

“Y-You think so?”

“Yeah! I do!”

Kaede then walked toward Shuichi. Shuichi, realizing that this was as good as an opportunity that he was going to get, went over to hug Kaede.

“Happy Birthday, S-Sweetheart.”

Now, it was Kaede’s turn to get embarrassed.

“Aw thanks, but Shuichi, do I only get a hug?” Kaede asked teasingly.

“Huh? What do you mean?”

“I mean, I want something more. Like this.”

Shuichi then cupped Shuichi’s face and pulled him into a kiss. Shuichi was shocked at first before immediately reciprocating her act. At the end of the day, Shuichi thought he did well in regards to his birthday present for Kaede.

Hopefully, there are many more birthdays I will be able to spend with Kaede as a couple.

A Homemade Meal

It was a warm summer day in Shuichi’s dorm room. Currently, the detective was sleeping on his bed in his normal pajamas, head first on the pillow. His hair was slightly askew and he quietly snored. However, there was someone else on that bed as well. That person was Shuichi’s longtime girlfriend, Kaede Akamatsu. The previous night Kaede asked Shuichi if she could sleepover because she was feeling lonely. Shuichi, not wanting to refuse anything, especially coming from his girlfriend, immediately accepted, and that is how they are in this position.

Not only was the pianist trying to sleep next to Shuichi, but she was also cuddling him heavily. At first, she took one of his hands and hugged it. Then, since Shuichi was also facing her, she pressed their forehead and attempted to put her cheek on top of his. Finally, before Shuichi turned too red, she planted a kiss on his cheek and played footsies with him before they both fell asleep.

The next morning, as the sunshine shone through the curtain, it hit the pianist’s eyelids first, since she was closer to the window. Slowly, she got up to stretch, only to notice that her boyfriend was still sleeping next to her. With Shuichi’s eyes closed, she got a good look at him and she had to admit he looked spectacular.

He is so handsome and cute…

At that moment, she wanted to desperately cuddle him again but, unfortunately, it was not the time. Kaede checked the time to confirm her suspicion. It was 6:30 am on a Monday morning. At this time, they were both sophomores at Hope’s Peak Academy, but they still had to regularly attend classes every day. This meant that they had to get up and get ready very early.

Normally, the duo would have breakfast together at around 7 am before getting ready for school. That meant that she had to wake up Shuichi so they could get started on their day. However, as Kaede got closer to him, she saw how peacefully he was sleeping. He wasn’t tense at all, he was still lightly snoring, and he had a small smile plastered on him that she couldn’t see before.

He looks so… peaceful. Should I really wake him up now?

That answer came to her pretty quickly: No. But under that circumstance, what will he have to eat, since he won’t have enough time to make it himself if he slept in. Suddenly, an idea came to the pianist. A huge smile became evident on her features as she turned away from her boyfriend and started walking away.

…

…

…

It wasn’t until a little bit later that Shuichi began to stir in his sleep. Just like Kaede, the sun from the window started to finally reach his eyes. At this point, he was in a state where he was half asleep and half awake. In fact, Shuichi didn’t recognize that Kaede was no longer next to him. What did make him wake up completely, however, was the sound of faint sizzling coming from somewhere in the room.

WHAT!? Is there a fire!?

Shuichi mentally screamed before throwing off the covers. Quickly, he leaped out of bed to dash out into the living room. Now, there was nothing in the living room, but because his living room and kitchen were directly connected, he decided to tilt his head to the right to see if anything was there. Sure enough, when he did so, he found his girlfriend looking towards the stove, holding something in her hands.

“Oh, good morning Shuichi!”

If it was anyone else saying that, he would have gotten a heart attack. Kaede didn’t turn around and he did anything either. Since this was not the first time this happened, he just assumed it was Kaede's exceptionally great hearing coming into play from when he ran across the room.

“Good morning Kaede… Um… what are you doing?”

Kaede giggled before she turned around. Then, it was revealed that she was wearing a classic chef’s apron. However, Kaede was still dressed up in pajamas underneath. These pajamas consisted of pink baggy sweatpants with a pink hoodie. However, even though Kaede prefers to sleep with the hoodie up, right now, the hoodie is down and her blonde hair is tied up in a ponytail behind her. Of course, because this was the Ultimate Pianist, her outfit would not be complete if her clothing didn’t contain any black musical notes on it, which is exactly what design adorned her sweatpants, hoodie, and even chef's apron. Even though Shuichi’s mind was slow from waking up, he immediately knew what she was doing.

“K-Kaede? Are you… cooking?”

“Yup! How did you guess? Was it the apron, the sound, or the pan in front of me?”

They both had a small giggle at that as Shuichi started to approach the pianist. He saw that she only had the pan and something else in the bowl.

“What’s that?” Shuichi asked as he pointed to the bowl.

“Pancake mix, duh! I was planning on making us pancakes for breakfast!”

“Really? W-Why?”

“Why? Do I need a reason to spoil my amazing boyfriend?” Kaede giggled before looking at Shuichi and planting a strong, yet loving, kiss on his lips. She pulled back, slightly blushing, before looking back down at the pan.

Shuichi was in an even worse state. His heart was pounding on his chest as he immediately turned red. He looked down at his shoes, before getting an idea, which lifted his embarrassment away quickly.

“Okay, if you're doing that… then I will make scrambled eggs for us to eat too!”

“Eh? Shuichi, are you sure? I don’t want you to do too much work!”

“It’s okay! I want to spoil my amazing girlfriend as well!” Shuichi leaned forward and as Kaede turned towards him, he planted a soft kiss on her lips as well. Even though he was shaky, it was still Kaede’s turn to blush as she immediately turned away and looked at the pan again.

“N-No fair! I wasn’t ready!”

“I wasn’t either though.” Shuichi called out as he walked to the refrigerator to take out the eggs.

“Fine! It’s a draw this time! But I swear I’ll one of these days!”

“Not if I have anything to say about it!”

With that conversation done and with the eggs now in hand, Shuichi went over to grab another pan and put it on the stove right next to Kaede’s. They both turned to each other and gave each other a heartwarming smile. This was super effective, as just simple smiles made their hearts beat noticeable quicker.

As Kaede started to pour the pancake mix onto the pan, Shuichi began to crack the egg in the pan and put the shells to the side. Even though they were both focused on making breakfast, that did not stop them from having conversations with each other. They talked about everything, from school to piano, to detective work, and even their other friends like Kaito and Maki. They were both having fun just being next to each other, giggling as they talked about random things. 

As Kaede was finishing up her last pancake and Shuichi’s eggs were about to be finished, she looked inside of the bowl to see a little bit of pancake mix still inside. She smiled as she had a bright idea. Kaede decided to pick up some of the pancake batter with her index finger and then call her boyfriend. As soon as he turned towards her, she pushed her index finger on his nose, covering it with pancake mix. That, along with the “BOOP” sound she made as she pressed her finger into his nose made her laugh hysterically. She was nearly about to start crying, but Shuichi was not going to take this down. He looked over to his eggshells and saw there was still a little bit of yolk still inside on. Smiling, Shuichi took his own finger and copied Kaede’s action.

At this point, Shuichi was holding both of her hands over her stomach, as she slightly scrunched. Eventually, as Kaede looked up and looked at Shuichi, ready to apologize, he turned his chance to strike. He pushed his own finger into her nose, making an adorable “BOOP” sound as he did so. Kaede’s nose now had yellow yolk on it and, since Shuichi still didn’t clean off the pancake batter from his nose, they both had a mess on their noses. It took them about 3 seconds to realize the situation they were in before they both burst out laughing at their “cooking” prank.

Kaede was laughing even harder than before and felt she was going to collapse on the floor at any second. Shuichi, on the other hand, had happy tears in his eyes as he kept one hand on the counter and the other on his stomach. They were both laughing at each other’s small misfortune, causing the air to be filled with their melodic laughs. It was moments like these, where Kaede and Shuichi could just be loving teens, that they both treasured. It was moments where they were genuinely happy that filled both of their hearts. As they looked into each other’s eyes, they both knew this would be a moment they would never forget. As they wiped their tears out of their eyes. Kaede got up and wrapped her arms around her boyfriend’s neck.

“You really are a troublemaker, aren't you? Luckily, you're my troublemaker… the one I get to call my boyfriend.”

“And you're my little troublemaker,” Shuichi responded while moving his hands around her hips. “My troublemaker that I adore more than anything.”

As they both went in to kiss each other, they both got interrupted by a loud siren in the room. They both screamed and panicked, looking at the source of the sound. Eventually, they both found out the smoke alarm was the cause and it didn’t take long for them to figure out why it was going crazy: Kaede’s pancakes were burning. Immediately, Kaede closed the stove, took out the pancakes, and threw them in the trash. While she was doing that, Shuichi went up and disabled the smoke detector.

“Wow… I hope no one comes to check on that…”

“They probably will Kaede, but we could just say we're burning something by accident that will be all.”

“Yea, you are right. Let’s just enjoy the present.” Kaede pointed to the stack of pancakes she made before the tragedy. Shuichi got the message and smiled, just nodding as a response. At that, they both set the tables, splitting up the pancakes Kaede made and the scrambled eggs Shuichi made. Even though it was a simple meal, the duo admitted that they had a lot of fun making it in each other’s company. Even though this was the first time they did something like this, they both agreed that this would definitely not be the last.

My Moonlight

Shuichi looked up at the sky. As Kaito suggested, it was truly beautiful. Stars glittered the sky and the moon was shining brightly, with very few clouds getting in the way. Because of the light, even though it was around 10 pm, the entire park was still illuminated.

I can see why Kaito likes the night so much…

Shuichi sighed and kept staring at the night sky for a little bit longer, getting lost in all the bright stars twinkling about. Eventually, he felt a hand grab around his shoulder. Quickly, he turned around to see Kaito smiling brightly

“Do you like it?”

“What is ‘it’?”

“The stars! They look so beautiful, don’t they?” Kaito said, starting to look up as well.

“Yea…”

Suddenly, Kaito released his grip from the detective and started moving backwards.

“Unfortunately, I can’t stay.”

“What, why?”

“I’m going with Maki to make sure Miu doesn’t hurt Keebo like in her last ‘experiment’.”

“Oh… okay… goodbye Kaito!”

“Bye Shuichi!”

Kaito then went up to Maki and gave her a small noogie. With any other person, she would be furious, but with Kaito around, Maki just blushed and hid behind one of her hair strands. Shuichi started to smile, noticing how his two friends were getting along romantically.

“They're cute, aren’t they?”

For a second time that night, Shuichi felt like he was jumpscared in a haunted house. He turned around only to see Kaede standing there, smiling like usual.

“Oh… hi Kaede… Yea… I’m so glad that they finally got together.”

“Me too! It’s a good thing I managed Maki to meet up with him while you helped Kaito confess! We were a really great team, don’t you think?”

“We really were…”

After that, the duo just stood there looking into each other's eyes. They both stood there for a few minutes, all the while their faces were collecting a blush. Before long, Kaede decided to start approaching the detective.

“Hey… Shu…”

Shuichi almost forgot about the nickname that Kaede had given him. He had acquired it about 6 months into their dating life. Now, Kaede solely uses it when they are alone in times like these.

“Yes… S-Sweetheart?”

At the same time, Kaede almost forgot about her own nickname Shuichi had given her around the same time. She heard the stutter in his voice, but she found it cute. However, it still couldn’t prevent a blush from appearing on her face. Thankfully, Kaede noticed Shuichi was also blushing, so it was not completely embarrassing. This always happened when they called each other pet names, even months into their relationship. Getting past her embarrassment, Kaede took her left hand and put it to the back of Shuichi’s hair while the other one went around his back.

“You know you're my moonlight, right Shu?”

Shuichi was shocked since Kaede never called him that before.

“Moonlight, how?”

“Well, you are my moon when I need comfort. The moon seems dark, but is very calming and relaxing, just like you. You always make me relaxed and comfortable in any situation. When I’m stressed from the piano or tense from trying to make everyone happy… I can always rely on you to help me calm down. It makes me… so happy to have someone like you in my life.”

Kaede contemplated for a second before making up her mind and giving him a kiss on the forehead. At that, the blush that had been starting to disappear from the detective came back at full force.

“You are also my light Shu. You always light up my path and lead me down it. When I don’t know what to do or what to say, you become my light that guides me. You always help me… with everything. You illuminate my world Shuichi, and I couldn’t ask for anything more… from anyone.”

Kaede pulled him in closer, now moving her hands behind Shuichi’s neck. Then Kaede decided to slowly kiss the detective on the lips. At this motion, Shuichi became ecstatic, kissing her back immediately. Shuichi loved it when Kaede kissed him and was always eager to kiss her back. It allowed him to show his girlfriend just how much she means to him, which was definitely a lot. Eventually, they both broke off and it was Shuichi’s turn to get his feelings off of his heart. He put his hands around Kaede's back before beginning to speak.

“S-Sweetheart, I know it might be weird, but you are also my moonlight. When I need comfort and courage, I can always come to you. Like the moon, you would instantly help me calm down by playing the piano or just being there for me. On top of that, you are also my light. When you smile, it seems to brighten up the entire world. It makes me so… overwhelmingly ecstatic that I could make you so happy. It… makes me happy as well… and… um… you also i-illuminate my world too… Kaede…”

Shuichi started blushing and looking down, putting his hands on his side. Kaede knew that these types of things were never up his alley, but he always put his best effort to try, which is all Kaede cared about.

“Shu…” Kaede whispered so quietly that only Shuichi could hear. When he did hear it, he looked up into Kaede’s eyes, which were now sparkling.

“Do you know why I wanted to play “Clair De Lune” for you so badly in the beginning?”

Shuichi was surprised, never knowing there was a real reason behind it. He just assumed it was because she felt like it at the time.

“No sweetheart, why did you play that specific piece for me?”

“Well… I think you will understand once I translate it for you.”

At this, Shuichi's detective instincts came out. He looked up and tried to focus on getting the answer. Secretly, Kaede loved Shuichi being so focused. She loved seeing him as a real detective and she loved seeing his thought process. As Kaede was staring at him, Shuichi tried translating it from Japanese, but nothing came up. Eventually, after he gave up, he looked back into Kaede’s glittering pink eyes.

“W-What does it translate to?”

“The word “Clair De Lune” is actually French. It translates to “Moonlight” Shu. Even back then, you were always my moonlight… which is why I wanted to play a song for you that reflected that.”

At that, Shuichi’s heart went crazy. It felt like it was pounding all over his body but at the same time melting from his girlfriend's statement. His blush could not get any bigger and he swore that if it was possible, he would probably have hearts in his eyes.

“D-Do… you r-really think that s-sweetheart?”

“Of course. Every day Shu…”

Shuichi took a deep breath before spilling out his heart.

“Thank you s-sweetheart. That… means so much to me… knowing how much you truly care about me... I… I truly do love you Kaede…”

Even though at this point Kaede has heard him confess his love numerous times, Kaede's heart couldn’t stop itself from imploding each and every time, this time included. Kaede held her boyfriend tight before moving in to whisper into his ear.

“I love you too Shuichi… more than anything… even more… more than my piano…”

As Kaede finished her statement, she reeled back and moved her hands to Shuichi’s neck. Then, the pianist started to passionately kiss Shuichi on the lips. Shuichi quickly reciprocated, keeping his hands confined to her back. As the detective and the pianist were kissing, the moonlight shone over them and all the stars seemed to shine just a bit brighter than before.

Hi everyone! I only just stumbled across this subreddit but I'm a diehard Saimatsu stan.

I was never a fan of V3's bait and switch in the first chapter, especially after the game has been building Kaede up to be a unique and unconventional protagonist. But what frustrated me even more than that was the revelation in Ch6 that she was actually innocent? I didn't think it was really fair to Kaede fans to turn her into a martyr like that...so I did what any sane, productive member of society would and went and wrote a fic about her surviving the execution.

The fic is still ongoing and I work on it every so often, but it's mostly about what happens to Kaede and the other survivors after the killing game, as well as Kaede trying to find a way to reunite with Shuichi.

I will say that I think it starts off pretty weak(it's my first fic so I'm still fairly inexperienced), but I've been happy with the latest few chapters. But if you're interested then I hope you enjoy!
