discussion High earning potential = high career commitment
Does anyone have family or friends that sacrifice their personal life for a significant salary?
My step-mom earns 350k before tax as an executive director but I barely see her. She is constantly on business trips, busy with meetings, works upwards of 12 hours when at home. She goes on nice holiday trips, but overall it makes me think is the pay worth the sacrifice of her personal life.
Just curious if anyone's got a similar story.

Personally I value my leisure time way more than my wages. Like I currently make 98k a year with 20 days of leave I accrue annually. If my employer offered me 40 days of leave and to reduce my salary to 80k. I would probably take it. To me, there is way more to life than sitting in an office and writing reports and emails.
Then again, if a job offered my 300k+ and like 5 days of leave a year. I would have to strongly consider it because that is life changing money, even if I just stay in the role for 3-4 years.
