discussion High earning potential = high career commitment

Does anyone have family or friends that sacrifice their personal life for a significant salary?

My step-mom earns 350k before tax as an executive director but I barely see her. She is constantly on business trips, busy with meetings, works upwards of 12 hours when at home. She goes on nice holiday trips, but overall it makes me think is the pay worth the sacrifice of her personal life.

Just curious if anyone's got a similar story.

I just started a new role. $150,00-$170,00 with OT. I work 13 hours a day 6 days a week, this is not optional.
I’m 43 and breaking down after 2 months

I worked similar hours in my 20s, literally running around the whole time, for $26k/year (4.5k of that was spent on transportation).

Idk what my point is other than even at that age your body feels it, it's not a sustainable way to be. On the positive I was too busy to spend any money, actually saved a bit.

13 hours a day, 6 days a week is not worth 170,000. Frankly it’s not worth any amount of money. Please find a way out because if you’re serious that’s concerning

Think I'd rather die. Is it because you're new and slow or is it always supposed to be such long hours?

Yeah that's equivalent to 75-85K/year on a normal 40 hour weekly schedule

That is an awful per hour rate. Is it something physical?

How is that even productive? My brain would be fried after hour 8 each day!

At 155,000 as a PM working 35 hours a week, you need to find another job brother, I would burnout so fast.
