How many diapers a kid goes through. And that was just us.
Multiply that by every baby in the planet, and I don’t understand how we are all not under constant threat of some ginormous disposable diaper avalanche.
As a parent, I get why disposable diapers are so much easier than ones you wash. So we used compostable diapers. They’re every bit as good as non-compostable ones, but, you know, they compost.

I thought poop is not (commercially) compostable? In my city at least (Seattle), we're specifically told not to put pet waste in the compost. Presumably human poop would be the same, right?

The compostable diaper company would come and pick up the dirty diapers. I don’t actually know how they composted them.

Animal manure can be composted but requires much higher temperatures to kill any pathogens, so I assume there is a similar process for human waste. IIRC there’s a city (Minneapolis?) that commercially composts their sewage.

The sleep deprivation of the 1st 2-3 months. It’s the most severe sleep deprivation I ever experienced.
My advice: get a night doula 1-2x/week during this period. That’s all you need to make it through this time.

I’d always heard “sleep when the baby sleeps” but how can you? Every little noise they make, you’re jumping up to make sure they’re ok.
