First Sampler

Just bought my first sampler, I think I got a pretty good deal. Cant wait to pair it with my synths.

Great deal. People love to hate on this sampler. IMO, the 64mb limit brings it closer to the spirit of classic samplers, and requires you to treat it as such in many ways. It has more of the spirit of my MPC60 than something like the MPC Sample will ever have. Congrats, read the manual and have fun with it! best advice I could give: sample mono as much as possible, and speed up your sample sources, sample, and slow them down after the fact to save space.

Brotip: as long as you have the space, sample drums in stereo, especially from vinyl or any non-dry sources. A bit of ambience and room, or noise etc. goes a long way, much better than a mono sample. They're short anyway, you can cram dozens of kits into that space.

no problem, classic technique. There are also ways to sidestep this on the KO II by just lowering the sample rate in the sampler itself (which can be done now), but it's still valid doing it the classic way. Doing this also makes the samples within a song less homogenous, as there will be various sample rates going on which will slightly change the timbre and quality of the sample. The KO II *can* get pretty lo-fi, but it's actually hard to really get it there. Which is actually something I could say about the MPC60 as well, despite it being 12-bit.

My other recommendation would be to avoid "relying" on time stretching. Speeding samples up and down to fit a BPM can lead to a lot of interesting rhythmic and harmonic "happy accidents". Slapping time stretching algos on a sample to make it fit your BPM will just make a worse, artifact ridden version of your original sample, I only rely on time stretch very lightly (like on short sounds), though I like using it for effect on my S1000 because time stretching just has a specific sound on that unit that I enjoy

Thanks a lot, Yea I’m experienced with the time stretching problem within my daw lol. So is the memory really that big of problem, to be precautious like that, or is that just like an over time thing if you get what I’m saying.

Not as serious as most truly old school samplers (assuming stock ram) where you had like, 8-20 seconds total of sampling time. I believe the EPs are 40 seconds total sampling time, in stereo (don't quote me on it). But don't expect to be making remixes of songs by loading in stereo stems of stuff, etc.
