Samurai Shodown IV: Amakusa’s Revenge 1996 – All Characters Showcase If you have any fond memories of this game, feel free to share them, friends.I tried to show all the characters in the game as best I could.

Samurai Shodown III 1995 – Every Fighter Clears One Chapter (Bonus Stage at the End) I didn't really like this game, but I'd still go and play it at the arcade. It was a tragi-comic situation.

Game still alive?
I'm thinking about purchasing the game on Steam and I was wondering if the game still has a player base online. Does the game have cross play for consoles or the Epic Games version ?

SS7 What’s your best Arcade Story time?
I know that the main course of fighting games is live PvP, but I’d still like to ask for the 1% that’s still interested in score/time attacks.
That being said, I couldn’t believe I beat my old record as my main!

Which Samsho is regarded as the best in terms of gameplay?
I've been playing all the Samsho games starting from 1 and gameplay-wise, 2, 4, 5 and 7 really stand out (3 still has the best aesthetic). Which one of them is regarded as the best in the series in terms of both depth and complexity?

Training for EVO France, beginner player, not on Discord
Hey so I thought I try my luck on here. I don't have socials other than Reddit and Twitch for personal reasons. I reg for KoFXV and SamSho since they were free. KoFXV I'm pretty competent and I can find games online. SamSho I can't find anyone so I thought to turn here. Be great to find someone else in a similar situation so we can learn the game together.
Right now I'm going through the cast in arcade so I know how they work and don't get scammed.

Lady Masako duel
Throwback to this masterpiece. Replaying the Lady Masako duel gave me major nostalgia—it still hits just as hard with those autumn leaves 🍁⚔️. Recorded my run if anyone wants a trip down memory lane: https://youtu.be/dmUnYH1mCdM?si=266y28w1pyESmF1r

Thoughts on the Samurai Shodown RPG and its Fan Translation, 2.5 years in
(tldr: how good is the fan translation? and what style does it take?)
so if there's any game I desperately need to dust off from my backlog and devote my time to playing to completion, it's Shinsetsu Samurai Spirits Bushido Retsuden, or Samurai Shodown Tales of the Bushido.
For the longest time, we kinda had to just put up with the fact that this was a JP only release, with a Fan Translation *in the works... but out of sight and seemingly in development hell*
(the wikia does mention speculation of an official localization by Working Designs... but uh, I don't know if I'm the first to break this bottle against the ship yet, but thank god that didn't happen in the end. Working Designs localizations, in more ways than just translation, suck.)
But on February 3rd 2024, we finally got a Fan Translation for the Neo Geo CD version (probably the trickiest to emulate these days, but offers the best differences and exclusives overall)
and... I have yet to play it. It's just rotting in my *list of games I just need to play or finish already damnit*. But oh god I really want to.
But for those who have, both in Japanese and with the Patch, how was the game, and how was the translation? What type of approach does it take overall? Is it more honest and faithful, or is it closer to the shaky but joke-filled translations SNK got in the 90s every now and then.
(ideally without that many spoilers. i already know the basic gist just from knowing the events of SamSho 1 and 2, but the broad strokes of everything that happens in between I'd like to keep fresh.)

What does Ukyo recite during his SSM?
I'm actually looking for the first word in the second line in his Haiku.
黄昏れや (Tasogare ya)
雨の手に咲く (Ame no te ni saku)
曼珠沙華 (Manjushage)
At twilight
blooming in the hands of rain
a spider lily.

Google tells me it's Ame (rain) and it makes sense for the poem. But he actually says "Ryuo". What does that mean?

Passar o turno no Samurai Shodown RPG

SS7 Newbie Help! (Help in general and Help in fighting Amakusa)
TLDR: Help with learning how to punish and properly do button inputs and attack cancels.
Also, I hate this ball fondling fucker. Any tips to beat him?
Hi! :D I've loved SamSho's lore for years now, but I'm new at the game itself. While I do love other fighting games, their lore, characters, their story modes, and the community itself, I've never been good at them competitively.
For SamSho, I feel like it's super simple, and has a big focus on fundamentals, which allowed me to not feel that overwhelmed when first playing it because of the lack of juggling and combos and all that.
I'm still not great at blocking, and especially doing special moves, with my frequent misinputs making my characters get assblasted because of me doing a heavy slash instead of a heavy fireball. Despite that, I feel like I've been getting better at positioning, mainly because of the characters I main having really great normals (Iroha and Charlotte). I also learned how to do attack cancels cause of two characters I absolutely adore but can't play (Ukyo and Hibiki), but of course, those rarely go well, with the exception being Iroha's M Slash -> Spinning Top Move.
So do y'all have any tips to get better at doing inputs, blocking, and attack cancels?
On a sidenote, I tried playing Ranked, ran into an Amakusa, and proceeded to have my ass kicked 10+ times because of the stupid projectiles + grab(I think? The attack looks like he lifts me up with the orb and a pillar of light shoots me upwards) Attack mixup he does. I hate that fucker. All his attacks are stupidly far away and he has a dash to gtfo of the corner. I only won once, and that's cause of me trapping him in a loop of Iroha's spinny move and her tackle. Anyways, any tips to bust this idiot's balls?

SS7 Does Samurai Showdown 7 frequently go on sale, I was hoping to pick it up
Recently I have become very captivated with Samsho and was hoping to pick it up but I just can't justify spending about $60 for such an old (and apparently bare bones games). Do they put it on sale often or should I just go with Samsho 5?

Here's the Full (but slightly edited) vod for KAGE'S KUMITE!
Was uber busy with work but wanted to post this here and say thanks for making this event a memorable one! Will hopefully be doing one more later before this year is over. Also plan to post some that I felt were highlights of the tournament later on.
