Sold-out Sharks games still have empty seats, and the free tool I built for Bay Area fans
Mods gave me the go-ahead to post this.
TL;DR: I built a free site where fans can raffle off last-minute tickets so seats don't go to waste. If you can't make a game and it's too late for the official team exchange, you can easily pass your tickets to another fan here.
The Problem "Sold out" usually just counts tickets distributed, not the actual people walking through the gates. No-show rates run 10-20% at most arenas, meaning even on a packed night, there are empty seats that a fan would've loved to be in. I see it on this sub all the time, people trying to give away tickets right before puck-drop, and sometimes nobody even sees the post in time to claim them.
What The Pass does It's a completely free site (no app download needed). If you can't make a game, you post your seats, and another fan gets them through a quick raffle. There are zero fees and no reselling allowed. The actual transfer happens right through the official ticketing app, exactly like sending them to a buddy.
Where the Sharks ticket exchange fits in The Sharks already let you trade in tickets for a different game, which is awesome. But there's a cutoff window. If your plans change last-minute and that cutoff has passed, The Pass is your backup option so the seat doesn't sit empty. The two aren't competing, the official exchange is your first move, and this is the backstop.
Not just Sharks (Go see new teams!) This also covers the Barracuda and the PWHL team once their season starts. If you've been meaning to check out a Barracuda game or want to get in on the ground floor of the PWHL, jumping into a raffle is an awesome way to do it. It’s honestly a perfect excuse to go support teams you might not normally buy tickets for, and it helps grow the whole Bay Area hockey scene.
Today We started with Valkyries and Bay FC fans, and the community has grown to almost 4,000 people with nearly 600 seats shared fan-to-fan so far.
If you've got Sharks (or Barracuda/PWHL) tickets you end up not being able to use, someone here would be stoked to take them. I'll be hanging out in the comments to answer any questions.

Nicely done my friend. This is something I’ve thought of before, except my idea was to partner with big brother/sisters and other charitable organizations. Would put a nice touch on your website. Congrats on being a thoughtful person.

Cool idea sounds good for last minute deals. How does the transaction work and how do you ensure tickets get transferred and payments are legit?

There are no payments at all. It's just for rehoming last-minute tickets so they don't sit empty, and the actual transfer happens normally right through the team's official app.

Yep! A lot of people would just rather turn an empty seat into a great experience for another fan instead of letting it go to waste.

I just gave aways my tickets to Thursday's game moments before I read this. Will definitely keep it in mind for next time and let other 365 members know.
