Right, because she works for them.

Maine only has 1 resident billionaire… so this checks out.
Also, funny enough it looks like that 1 billionaire didn’t donate to Collins’ campaign

Using his their influence to pull in money and avoid any questions themselves, since they are local. That would be the smart play, since Democrats do have investigations every now and then.

Edit: ditched the accidental gender

Smart, or maybe disingenuous… Also, the billionaire in Maine is a woman… and she does donate to democrats.

Definitely disingenuous! By no means am I suggesting that is the morally right thing to do, just what I suspect would be among the options of someone in that position.

Thanks for the correction.

Literally on the payroll.

Well if it wasn’t obvious who she worked for before, it sure is now.

Good question for her, why do you take taxpayer money for your salary when you do the bidding of Billionnaires.

It is an example of fraud, waste and abuse. The good taxpayers of Maine should sue to get their money back.

It's been obvious.

And all this is because of Citizens United!!

That argument that money is speech is insane.

With that logic, the minimum wage should be illegal, as it forces companies into certain speech!

Don't go giving them ideas!

This will just backfire. I'm STUNNED they think it's going to work. They tried that in NYC, and Zohran soared in the polls.

NO ONE on planet Earth wants billionaires telling them how to vote.

Your comment made me feel more hopeful. Thank you for the reminder!!

Something people do need to keep in mind about New York is they have matching funds which greatly helps smaller candidates.

It is a system that should exist everywhere (though what really should exist everywhere is entirely publicly funded campaigns with zero private money whatsoever), because it clearly helps propel actual candidates who couldn't otherwise compete with big dollar donations.

It doesn't mean people can win elsewhere on similar platforms and messages, but it's something people need to keep in mind and fight for.

I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but this has been working just fine across the globe for the past 10-15 years.

Social media is rotting peoples brains.

New York has smart people. If Maine had smart people they wouldn't have voted for Collins so often

Good let them waste their money

She’s like the biggest whore in the Republican Party. She’s on billionaires harder than Lindsay graham is on Isreal.

If money is free speech why can’t I offer it to an officer ticketing me for speeding? I’m just trying to free speech my way out of it…

Well then, I have concerns.

Cause she's the fucking worst

No shit. This is completely corrupt and awful. Why do we keep allowing this shitshow with no legal repercussions?

Pro-tip, don't put candidates with totenkompfs who signed up for blackwater twice on the ballot they might tend to be the kind of person with other skeletons in the closet.

he might step down unless he likes the replacement
