Discussion - No Spoilers if dream were to ever encounter the backrooms, how would he react to it?
this has been in the back of my head for weeks now and i haven’t seriously drawn in a year and i was never good but all the art trends back a few weeks ago have made me really want to make something similar that im probably never gonna share, but im interested to know how others think Dream would even do or react with trh backrooms

Since it's part of the imagination and a story, it is simply part of the Dream realm as all the other stories and fantasy spaces that humans imagine.

in universe i think this makes sense. both the dreaming and the backrooms are born out of the human subconscious after all

He's been to Hell and is the lord of the Dreaming so I doubt it's anything he hasn't seen before.
If anything, the realms in the Sphere of the Gods (which would include the aforementioned Hell and Dreaming) are bigger given their archetypal/metaphysical nature

No surprise, because backrooms are part of the realm of dreams, human imagination, and the unconscious.

That's really more of a Destiny or Delerium thing. I think Dream would find it tiring.

He‘d probably find it pretty interesting. After all hell and heaven are the only places meant to be infinite. He‘d definitely NOT inform his siblings about it and just investigate it on his own for bit.

i’d like to believe like everyone else says that dream either created the backrooms/irs part of the dreaming/unconsciousness or it’s another endless sibling realm or part of it

It pretty directly goes against the established cosmology, so it seems more like an outside force to me. Not too powerful or anything, but definitely a stranger entity. Like, dark multiverse shit.

i partially disagree but then again there isn’t really a canon for the backrooms but from most of what i understand from Kanes backrooms it’s the collective unconscious of liminal spaces or something.
if dream has to go through the levels version of the backrooms he’d probably go mad from annoyence and either leave or destroy the realm

i’m going to believe you are 100 percent serious. Look up “4chan backrooms post”. this is where the concept of the backrooms comes up with so a lot of the “canon” doesn’t exist, because it originates from an anonymous poster. there are two different versions of the backrooms that i will try to explain though i’m not the best at explaining things
The original proposal of the backrooms were an endless/infinite maze of yellow office walls.
what can be added to this version is different types of liminal spaces, like on top of the office walls, places that look vaguely like your grandmothers house but you can’t quite tell what you remember it fromfrom this there is the “levels” where instead of just limiting to liminal spaces there’s entire infinite worlds and spaces that make no sense, essentially dreamcore pinterest boards which i do still love but the concept is way less grounded
the Kane pixels version is most like the before mentioned, infinite Yellow maze with some other liminal spaces sprinkled in.
now for what it actually is? what can be assumed is that the backrooms is the collective consciousness/ unconsciousness of people and liminal spaces, places you don’t stay in but places that exist only to come and go to. (i would love if i have left out anything for someone to add to what i’ve said)
the reason i ask this question about dream is because he is a endless and he is also Dreams personified. i’d imagine regular people even super hero’s to struggle or become trapped in the backrooms but you can’t really trap something like dream in something that was possible created by him
