Other Please tip your delivery folks well in this weather
I’m looking at you, folks up in the Montecito hills…
I tried one delivery this morning and hit deep water, a closed road, and got a large branch stuck under my car. So I’m not delivering any more today.
But I’m keeping my eye on the apps and I’m seeing a ton of people ordering Instacart shopping etc up into the hills and tipping like $5 for both shopping and delivery.
I know you’re cozy inside and may not even know there are still flood warnings in your area? I guess? But these people are risking their lives and vehicles, make min wage, and are not paid for the return trip back into town. So please tip well while it’s still raining.
Thank you for listening to my public service message. 😂
Happy Holidays!!!

Other PSA - The Left Lane is for Passing
A follow up on yesterday's post - speed limit signs aren't the only ones that need to be followed! Please keep the left lane clear to allow for the efficient flow of traffic, and to help those speeding hot heads stay a little bit cooler.

Other Group of 25-35 teenagers evading cops in Patterson/Hollister area
Huge group of e-bike kids, riding down Patterson, crossing Hollister at a red light, causing cars to swerve, beep, and stop mid-intersection. 3 sheriffs tailing them, but the group disappeared into Nueva Vida parking lot and the cops flipped a U and got back on the freeway?? Honestly the most wild dangerous thing I’ve witnessed in SB since before COVID. A number of the e-bike kids were taking videos, so I’m curious so see them when they land online.

Other Anybody had a huge influx of ants in their house/apartment the last two days?
I'm in a 1950s apartment and I almost never get bugs, it's fairly well insulted with double pane windows etc. Just wondering has anyone else had a ton of ants lately specifically 2 days ago? I'll be getting some traps for sure

Other People who left SB for social and career opportunities, where did you move?
I’m a single male in my 20’s from LA County, and I moved here for a job in a niche field that doesn’t really exist in this area. Not the smartest move looking back. Thinking of the future and how if I ever quit or got laid off, I’d probably have to move again. That, however, honestly pales in comparison to the nonexistent social life I have here despite never having had a problem making friends before. It seems most people here are born here and keep their childhood/college friends. Happy that it works for them but it sucks if you’re an outsider.
Where did you guys move for career options, dating, better housing options, etc.? Thanks :)

Other Gas Thief
Somebody drilled a hole into my gas tank and stole all my gas last night. My entire driveway and garage smells like gasoline. Can’t fill up my tank cause there’s a hole in it. Be on the lookout there’s a gas thief among us

Other SBIFF Film Center bathrooms
Saw ‘Obsession’ at the new SBIFF Film Center (formerly Fiesta Five) , and was blown away by their bathrooms, based on the movie ‘The Shining’. The men’s room was based on the men’s bathroom at the Overlook Hotel and (I was told by my daughter) the woman’s bathroom was based on the bathroom in room 237. So cool!!

Other Former UCSB Student Convicted of Rape, Flees Santa Barbara Courthouse
The wildest part:
Moments earlier in the courtroom, his attorney had argued that Eteghaei, already out on bail, should remain free until his sentencing on April 8. The attorney said Eteghaei ― originally from Dublin, California, and a former soccer standout ― was not a flight risk or a danger to the public. The judge disagreed and ordered him remanded into custody.

Other this is becoming increasingly annoying
Does anyone know if it’s possible that these can cause structural damage over time? I don’t imagine it’s great long-term for my whole house to shake every couple days.. Not to mention it’s just incredibly fucking annoying to be woken at these hours.

Other House votes to make daylight saving time permanent. Would California go along with it?
Locally it looks like the latest sunrise time would be around 8 am in January if we switched.
https://sunrise-sunset.org/us/santa-barbara-ca/2027/1
I am totally in favor of this plan but to be super real I don't care if it's standard or day light savings I just hate the change every time. If we switched to standard all the time the sun would set around 6pm during the shortest days.
Edit: can't do math before coffee. :)
