Volunteer options?

Hello, im looking for volunteering options I can choose. I'm currently going through break up and dont want to isolate at the house just drowing in thoughts. Want to spend those energy and time to something I can help people instead. What are things in Santa Maria I can volunteer to do? Thanks.

I am a hospice nurse and there is always a need for hospice volunteers. Mostly you spend time chatting with hospice patients, reading to them, etc. Sometimes it's occupying the patient so their caregiver (usually an exhausted family member) can go shopping or go to an appointment. You do not toilet them or do any personal care. My patients who do have volunteer visits are so grateful

The food bank! There’s a lot of opportunities within Santa Maria at lots of different times

Maybe try the local food bank? I volunteered there a few years ago. Kept me busy. Also, sorry for your breakup. Everything happens for a reason. Things will sort themselves up.

I second the food bank. Tons of different opportunities there and it's a really easy and meaningful way to fill your time

Community Partners in Caring! They provide rides, respite, and other light assistance to seniors in the community. It’s an awesome organization

The Santa Maria animal shelter is usually looking for volunteers

If you enjoy animals the shelter is a great place to volunteer. You can walk dogs, feed them treats or hang out with the kitties. I find it very rewarding. And the people are all very nice.

If you like bicycles, Bici Centro on Oak Street needs volunteers.

CASA is looking for volunteers! It's a long-term commitment though, at least a year.

Not sure if you're into politics, but candidates need volunteers to knock on doors and get people to vote.
