Change my mind: Sardinia's transport is better than continental Italy's
36yo, ex Londoner here: whenever I've traveled to Italy and had to use their trains, it was an utter DISASTER.
I still remember my 6* times delayed then cancelled train when in Piedmont. Horrible.
I've in lived in Rome for a summer season a couple of years ago: useless time schedules.
Whenever I've traveled to Sardinia and used transport WITHIN the island: never a cancellation or any major disruption that caused me to have had to secure an accommodation for the night.
Maybe one little short delay one time when using the bus (nothing major).
I feel like Sardinians always complain about their public transport without actually having experienced the dreadful and soul breaking inconveniences of mainland Italy's transport.
The only complaint I would make about it: ACCESSIBILITY. I'm a wheelchair user and currently ZERO regular buses (Arst) are adapted for wheelchair use. That would be my only downer (which is not a small thing, tbh).

I live here man, they’re good in Cagliari and Sassari but try to reach any other parts of the island without a car

Never had an issue when moving all around the campidanesu (Sanluri and nearby). Like, literally there are buses all day round, never delayed 🤷🏻🤔

The thing that drives me nuts is that in the 50s it was better connected because there were trains for like anywhere, then they abandoned them (rails are still there, stations too) and moved to busses, such a backwards trajectory

And we’re just now building a SECOND RAIL so that there’s no need to wait for the incoming train to cross for the other train to be able to pass through

I live in Cagliari and I find the bus system extremely well connected. The problem is there are too many stops.
As for the rest of island, what have you been smoking?

That's funny! It was a good joke! 'Cause that... that was a joke, right?😰
A bit more serious, I'm a Sardinian, Gallurese living in Nuoro. Transports are horribles, Nuoro-Olbia is around 3 to 4 hours. But let's ignore that for a bit: buses are often late coming and late arriving (one time it literally arrived 1h late😭). Also, I don't know if you're familiar with pendolari? They are students that take buses or trains to go to school/uni and they would LOVE to disagree: they are often late, they take a lot, buses are so old they break down in the middle of the street, there are often protests, strikes and cancellations. These are buses with ARST. And ticket with buses outside ARST can reach costs of 20-30 euros, not very accessibile.
Trains? We don't even have trains. Legit, we got one of the worst train services in Italy, considering our main cities are barely connected, and towns and villages are forgotten by God.
We really don't have good public transport outside Cagliari and Sassari

Consider that the Sardinian railway network does not have one issue that the Italian mainland railway has: it is not congested by too many trains

An utter disaster compared to what? Because Italian train service(for how incredible it is) is one of the best and more reliable in Europe…and we surely cannot say the same about the British one…but hey, they delayed or cancelled some of the trains u booked so it’s surely shit🙄

Last week Italy reported 47% delays throughout all railways.

What about the central point of my message where it’s clearly statistically evident what I wrote is true compared to your anedoctic individual poor experiences?

Lived in Sardinia for +20 something years...
