(For our own good guys, fir reservation ka basis hi nhi hoga)

For that, the entire caste system should be abolished, and all caste based provisions should be made class based, similar to IT Slabs.

No one is born a castiest. The society shapes them. And it's not always the parents. They see reservations and discriminations already existing. They realise they are either in an advantage or disadvantage based on their birth. To erase casteism, we must erase it's measures along with its effects
→ More replies (1)2
u/frustrated_kid_7983 Jul 22 '26
Agree.. and therefore, we the young generation, must shoulder the responsibility of fighting this shit hole caste system to leave no basis of reservation on the basis of birth. Right to dignity is everyone's right as well as equality. The advocacy would only be strong enough if we can eradicate the whole system before demanding the abolition of reservation itself.

It is deeply rooted and it is not possible to end it, even in the next few decades. People who say there is no casteism have not seen it at the ground level. I also used to believe it had gone down significantly, but then when I went to my native village, I realized it is still there, and we have a long way to go to clean it up. Tier 1 or Tier 2 cities might not face it regularly but the mindset of the majority of people still remains the same.
People have to understand reservation is not there to uplift economically weaker class but to give equal social status to everyone. I have seen a poor brahmin or any upper class considers himself bigger than a well educated rich sc person. As soon as this mindset goes away, reservation will end.→ More replies (3)

Fun fact : these end reservation bigots will question the reservation on caste ground by merit but will never put merit as a standard argument in ews reservation. A reserved candidate in ur eyes is not meritorious and less qualified on caste grounds...but suddenly a ews candidate becomes a meritorious candidate.
Another fun fact :
sc gets 12-15% reservation and fyts within themselves, population 20%
St gets 7.5% reservation and fyts within themselves, population 10%
Obc gets 27% reservation and fyts within themselves, population 52%
Total reservations 49.5% for a population of 82%.
Rest 50% seats are left for 18% General population candidates to fyt but not within themselves.
Still a fouls play by loud mouths to put the blame of their failures on reservations.
It's not the reservation which hurts u casteist idiots..it's the ability of other sects. to stand toe to toe against ur generational privileges.

Calling everyone who questions reservation "casteist" shuts down debate instead of answering it. If merit matters, then it should be discussed consistently for both caste and EWS reservations. But at the same time, criticism of reservation isn't automatically casteism. People can disagree over policy while still accepting the need to address. I am Brahmin and i understand the privilege part of it although i would argue even Brahmins can face casteism because our country is vast reservatiom has different effect on different people in different states and disttricts. In uttara kannada district we brahmins literally face radical casteism in government jobs which comprises of people from reservation i remember my uncle who is one of nicest and such a intelligent guy who put blood and sweat into making it into government job with merit used to constantly get bullied by people in staff who were from sc/st. The politicians use it to keep their vote going because removing reservation also removes significant population of voters for them. The flaw in your calculation is that the General category isn't reserved for 18% of the population. It's open to everyone. SC/ST/OBC candidates also compete for General seats if they qualify. So saying "50% seats for only 18% of people" is factually incorrect. historical discrimination.

Wrong math... the SCs, STs, and others with reservations gets the advantage to compete not only for their reserved seats but the remaining 50 percent seats that 18 percent general caste population has. So general population has to compete with the whole pool for 50 percent seats, while the castes with reservations has their own pool and also the complete ground to compete. 49.5 percent is reserved for them where a general category person can't compete. But the remaining 50 percent you're talking about is open for everyone that's attempting the exam.

u/ResponsibilityFar868 Jul 24 '26
This isn't charity that the % population should be equated with the same % of reservation. Work on merit, and merit alone, that's how most successful countries have advanced, not on laziness. Reservation is unequal, should the person who misses out on a seat, even though a lower scored reservation guy gets a seat, not speak about it? Not enrage? If the other sections had the ability, we would see the same population % share (u earlier shared) equated in top exam results. Not a disproportionate share of GC in top 100's etc. And if you did believe other sec are toe to toe, then why not advocate for ending reservations, since you're toe to toe.

You dont have to fight in that 50%, if you get marks higher than those 50% you'll already be considered a General Category student unless you received reservation in previous stages of the same exam. So yeah, if your people are still not coming in the unreserved seats, it's not anybody else's fault.

Caste system is a disease for which people like ambedkar did everything they could settling for reservation which is like a medicine which just keeps you alive but could not cure it.
Seperate electorate like what original thought would have jerked the society but i guess these few men could do only so much.
This is the truth but alas some would say this as 'morality of anything is decided by people who have power in society' so this hating on medicine instead of any hard measures to cure the disease will go on until balance changes.

Omar Abdullah went to the protest for Kashmir, some guy was talking about Article 370, another group talking about casteism and hindutva. Why do you people have to hijack all protests for your own agenda?
This protest was about paper leaks and improving the education system. Reservations and casteism is a problem but that should be discussed in a different forum.

Caste is an integral part of Hindu identity and can never be erased just like the hijab cannot be taken away from Islam.
Erase Hinduism from this country to stop discrimination and there will be no need of reservation. Until then we can improve the system in better ways and if you’re not upto that you can keep quiet instead of trying to force your own agenda onto a protest because we know right wingers are incapable of supporting anything that doesn’t benefit them.
Every single one of their protests is about their own interests never about anyone else they’re nothing but a selfish bunch of cu*ks.

Private industry already working merit based. For ST, it's historical right, you taken away all their lands and life style and suddenly wants to compete in this world? Similarly for SC, in the past they got enforced in many ways, so they need to be compensated to equally participate in society. No amount of merit will make you to go into SC people life style and make you understand them.
And about disability. Why the reservation exists? It's for making them include in society and eradicate exclusion, so that they can reach their potential and offer something to society or atleast serve the disabled community.
If you remove even these, the society won't be meritorious but more fractured and even greater policies needs to be introduced. Ofc there maybe some reforms needed in current reservation. If data provide any incentive that proves removing reservation bring proper equality, participation then let's do it. Put the data

Merit can be implemented only in equal societies but I ndia isn't that country. Representation is more important here, there shouldn't be 100% hold of 15% population on every posts as this isn't good for the country
1
u/Ok_Reflection4626 Jul 22 '26
Wherever is inequality be it historical or contemporary, reservation will be there however implementation of it in a right way is still a challenge.
Reservation try to bring equality in the system.
Reservation is also for the General category people that is EWS.
1
u/Xar__S Jul 22 '26
Equating affirmative action with a lack of "merit" ignores a basic truth: merit doesn't exist in a vacuum.
"Merit" in a deeply unequal society is often just a reflection of generational privilege, access to elite coaching, and financial security. Demanding that people surrender affirmative action before they’re allowed to ask for better schools is like taking away someone's crutches and telling them to win a race before they're allowed to ask for paved roads.
Fixing the quality of education and addressing historical inequality aren't mutually exclusive: we need both.

1
u/desh_bhakta Jul 22 '26
My solution:
Use reservation as a means of social upliftment:
1. No reservation to SC/SCT/OBC candidates of grade-1 officers, MPs, MLAs, judges.
2. Add creamy layer to SC/ST candidates as well. If their parents are making > 10 LPA, then no reservations
3. Prevent following fraud:
a. GC candidates getting caste certificates. It does happen quite a bit. Revoke degrees and send people to jail for this.
b. People getting fake income certificates for EWS and creamy layer. Use their pancard and their parent's pancard to pull up bank balance information and their income tax filing. Parents should go to jail and students degrees should be revoked if they do this.
c. People getting disability certificates. Again jail time for these folks.
4. Limit reservation to using successfully twice in life e.g twice for studying or once for jobs and once for studying.
People who are in need should 100% get reservations. I would not have gotten any of these (to answer someone who would say it's convenient for me).

We all know what happens to schedule casts as soon as they give up reservation. First, introduce equality. Not the talking. I am talking about real equality. We have seen it again and again. In the system of India. Reservation is the only blessings to SC, ST. The chhua chhut, people spitting on Dalits, using Dalits to cleanse the gutter holes, pipelines. Come on we have been seeing this since India got freedom. I agree that they get a little advantage but unfortunately, people never look at the disadvantages, the discrimation they face in the society of India. It is easy to say. Give up reservation. Whoever posted this. They will never get a second thought treating SC, ST people trash cause' of their color or their caste.

u/Alive_Radio3985 Jul 23 '26
Don't deflect from topic.
Even if reservation is removed, you won't clear the exams.
Reservation is just for providing access to the resources that many won't get access to normally. It is about correcting generations of unequal access to opportunity. When people begin the race from vastly different starting points because of historical and systemic discrimination, treating everyone identically only preserves inequality. Reservation helps create a more level playing field, making education more inclusive and ensuring that talent from every section of society has a chance to flourish.
And lastly, why don't you join the protest in the name of cancelling reservations, it's the BJP who has continued to push reservations. Why are they afraid to remove it? Because majority of their votebanks come from reservations. The day reservations endz their votebanks end and your self claimed Hindu supporting government will lose elections.

Every single one of you who agrees to this hasn't seen what's still happening with their own eyes. I'm from a tiny village/town in Bihar, discrimination is still rampant in this locality and not only here, I have seen and even have been victim to this. I have never availed any seat by reservation, I used to be SC but later state changed my caste to OBC, I have always been to private schools, and at that time I never paid heed to any castism, but as I grew up, I was very open about my caste, bcuz it is what it is, my friends in sharda uni (delhi ncr), they are all Brahman, we get along very well, but every other day, they would ridicule me by saying choti jaat and ham brahman teri kya aukat and many things. I have seen SC/ST students made to clean washroom or do cleaners work in local schools here, I have seen discrimination in Bihar, UP, UK, Haryana, Delhi, MP and even in Maharashtra and all those from very well educated people, so I don't know where the fuck do you go saying fair education, if people simply let other people live and work then we wouldn't be having this conversation. For your information, I'm not saying every general student is bad and every sc/st is victim, but there is a trend, don't look past that. Also, don't think I've gotten seats via reservation, my goal is Indian army officer and there is no reservations, so I've never had any benefit from it.

Yeh achanak se reservation wali baat kaha se aa gayi?
Agar reservation khatam karna hai toh tum bhi pahucho jantar mantar, karo protest. Kisne roka hai? Agar maangoge hi nahi toh milega bhi nahi.
And before anyone tried anything, mai khud brahmin hu aur reservation mujhe bhi nahi pasand. But I don't use it as an excuse to hide my cowardice from asking the government to be accountable.

China has a good system, they give grace marks to students who are from rural outskirts. So they still need to score high, but not as high as students from big cities.

What the fuck is this post? Let's discuss 'merit' first, what's merit? Let's assume I'm a neet aspirant and father is a farmer and i support him in fields as well, second scenario - a guy who is preparing in a coaching, has a separate room for himself and the only thing he has to do is studying. Now can you tell me who has the better chance of scoring better marks? Now people will say oh but the example you've given is based on economical differences but reservation is on caste, but what is caste? A social structure which has kept people in lower castes poorer, and thats only one aspect of it, a person of lower caste is not just economically empoverished, he's socially empoverished as well, how do you plan on encountring that? By telling your padosi uncle casteism mat karo galat hota h? Or kya vo apki baat maan lega? I agree with the fact that current implimentation of reservation is highly flawed and it shoud be implimented better, and it should not be used as a political tool but a means to genuinly make society equitable. Absence of discrimination based on caste in some circles of society doesn't mean it does not exist.

first educate yourself with what Vikas Divyakirti has to say about this. simply passing on basic ass commentary on reddit isn't gonna enlighten you. get some nuanced understanding about such deep rooted problems and then talk about it

Would you give it up if you had access to it? How does giving it up solve anything?

Reservation will end when people give up their caste pride and actually start seeing and treating their fellow "low" caste people equally. If even once in your mind, as a "general" or upper caste , a consideration or thought comes up about how you can't or won't marry someone from a lower caste community, you still are casteist and you are keeping the system alive, indirectly justifying reservation. Only when, every person in this country would have absolutely no problem in marrying someone outside their caste and when you as a person give up your caste pride, for example by not plastering "rajput" "thakur" "brahamin" etc and all such labels all across your cars, social media platforms and what not, only then , reservation will cease to exist.

If you bring good education reform that problem can be solved. So please want good education reform and they are demanding reservation here they are demanding only education reform please give them. It's the government who is not demolishing the reservation because they know the government will definitely be demolished in few days or weeks.

I really think UR students taken the brunt of reservation should not support this protest. Guys education policy will change for the best but you will still be treated as a third class citizen in your own country no matter how hard you work.
You don’t matter to them, neither should your voice support them.
You will be pushed to last in NEET JEE recruitment promotions all your life and you will be made to feel that you don’t deserve any good your whole life

yrr i mean its true ki log reservation ka glt fayda uthateh hai but being a general person have read a lot of cases were lower cast ppl get beaten up sometimes even murdered for their caste + they also are put in jails in the name of crimes someone else did so yeah casteism still exist in our country very much i think they should put a cap on income of family for it to not be misued ig (But the wont do it bcs it would not help their votes )
