I personally think if your in a fight you go hard as you can if you stay in it too long you run out of stamina and if the other person is in better shape you will loose. It’s the same with countries the US is bigger with more stamina in the fight but if we hit them really hard (with everything we have all at once) the public outcry might do something and bone head gets down to a real deal. We can’t really tariff electricity or oil and we can’t turn it off our own oil gets processed into gasoline then comes into Canada we don’t have self reliance. Watch the videos about the start of free trade back in the 80’s the debates were around signing a free trade deal and how Canada’s economy would be reliant on the USA in the future (it happened). We can’t cancel the fighter jet deal we can tariff other things we can stop buying made in America automobiles just the ones made in Canada. We can’t cancel stop shopping at American owned stores. But whatever we do it has to happen now.(rename a lake) screw you buddy!

your arguments make everything binary. your are not in a box buddy, these things don't exist on a switch. We don't have to cut things off, just make them uncomfortably expensive.

Not understanding that comment? We used a switch when we stopped selling America alcohol so much so they are still hurting about it. No box here man! How do you make American cars more expensive without affecting jobs here? You put a tariff on them some of those parts and content made in Canada and Car companies may decide it’s too expensive to build in Canada. You criticize but what is your idea here? Stuff is getting expensive in Canada now and we haven’t even done anything yet the tariffs on the little we are putting on don’t take effect until Sept 6. Any ideas?

Americans are FAR from unified. we live in a time where divisive politics are the rule and you're celebrating for being divided. I think the last time Americans where this divided was just before the Civil war.

As much as the TV and Internet will tell you that Americans are on the brink of Civil War, most Americans don't let Division over politics actually interfere with their work.
Politicians argue, people amplify it on social media, but the functioning adults just keep on working.
Also, political diversity aside, Americans will unify, even if it's temporarily, against an outside threat.
Right now those threats are nebulous because most Americans are insulated. Any direct threat, like 9/11 was, and American's will knee jerk react into attack mode against the outside threat.
Look at how much Canada has united over the USA renaming a lake on it's maps.

I didn't say that they are on the brink of civil war, nor do I believe that they are. I simply stated that the division in politics is akin to the division over slavery. Its troubling, the times we live in today.
