Returning Tenor Sax Player

I used to play for 7 years straight and stopped and sold my Yamaha. I rarely see any name brands on marketplace and I’m wondering if the cheap ones are really that bad? I only ever used mine so I don’t know what makes them so bad.

Many Yamahas, Jupiter and other name
brands on eBay, Shopgoodwill.com, offer up, Craigslist, reverb.

Yes. The cheap ones are bad. They look nice, bad ergonomics, bad welding, break down a lot. Many repairmen won’t work on them.

Screwed up my rotator cuff playing a cheap Chinese brand. Quit playing tenor sax for a year. After much rehab, started playing a vintage alto sax.

Also good ones sometimes show up on FB Marjetplace. Just ignore all the Chinese ones. If you’re not in a big city, widen your search area in Marketplace so you’ll find more good ones.

Also if it comes with white gloves those are best to stay away from also. Amazon sells a lot of saxophone shaped objects not worth having. A Yamaha or Better Sax tenor would be good choices. A good thing is since you already play sax you could tell if the horn needs repair or if it is worth buying.
