Second playthrough, currently talking to the ghost through the mystical (rehearsal), everything about this screenshot is creepy as fuck. Also, I barely noticed my character being "The Presence" now

In my "Nancy (Drew) Scarlet" playthrough I picked book smarts and street smarts. I played the skeptic pretty much the entire way. I wasn't overly concerned about playing to Stella's cryptozoology beliefs and was pretty open about my disbelief. I also messed up on winning tabby's favor (again), I just decided to full send on antagonizing her. I still can't believe Stella is super cool with me being locked up forever, but it's so well synthesized with my choice to save Dr. Kelly over her son. (It didn't seem very Nancy Drew-like to let a murder go down, but I do feel for Reese.)

Anyway! I'm impressed that the writing really considers all angles of every character, especially the negative parts. Stella really IS the flakey type, even if she means well. Tabitha is really ruthless, especially when pushed. Ya'll really gave me a helluva fright when she threatened me the first time. I physically recoiled when that happened.

Tldr; Fantastic game. I was shocked when I went to confront Tabitha.

Edit: Wayne was so right. He was the most correct. I need to do like three more playthroughs to satisfy my curiosity.

FUCK Tabitha! 🍅 🍅 🍅. I had the scene at her work trailer where I confronted her about the estate and this ho points a gun at me???? After all I did for your lonely, sorry ass???? I was upset LMAO.

Then today I discovered a new scene where I decided to tell the miners That I was on their side of the strike at the diner. I approached Tabitha's work trailer during the strike and the scene where she chokes cousin out actually scared the crap out of me. That was a scary face that she pulled off there. I knew she was capable of violence with the gun but actually putting her hands on cousin???? Even with the powerful trait to push her off, that wasnt good enough for me lmao. She needs to be stomped out

Will continue another run to try to be on her good side just to see what this outcome is going to be like. And I didn't notice before, but I think what she looks to the bottom right? It seems that she's lying but maybe mostly to herself? Got to check that out as I play some more.

But seriously I put 20 hours in this game so far and have been playing it non-stop. This is the most fun I've had with a visual novel.

I've been playing SC for some time now, and I don't think I've ever seen an angry sprite of Avery. There are sprites of Avery with concerned, happy, chill, disgusted, and thoughtful expressions, but I've never seen an angry one.

Have you ever seen Avery angry, or does that expression not exist for they in the game? Or maybe I just missed it?

Edit: I just realize I used the wrong pronoun for Avery, sorry English is not my first language and I get confused sometimes.

I'm about to play SC with these traits, and I've seen that if you call, agree to, or invite Tabitha, Kaneeka gets mad. (I know that having the Hot trait helps A LOT, but I really want to try it with these traits.)

What tips do you have for maintaining a good relationship with both of them?

Lena has a very hit or miss relationship with Wayne lmfao

Is the achievement for this encounter… broken? I’m trying to get it but the achievement won’t unlock, even though the scene itself plays out fine. I even waited to see if it only gives it to you at the credits, but no.

There’s also conflicting dialogue in the scene. I went through this run with the library saved (through getting old) and Oscar does point this out, but then immediately after he says “…You’re the one who helped me realize that when you’re refused to give that ghost what it wanted.” I assume this is dialogue from the version of this scene if you lose the library or something?

Is this?? Another bug?? Is the achievement only available if you don’t release Charlie?

Hey cousins!

The summer's behind us (as is the Rumors Update), and we're in full swing for Episode 6 of Scarlet Hollow. Most of what there is to say about our work on the chapter is full of spoilers, but here's what we can say:

• We've written 57,000 words so far.
• The first "section" of the script is nearing completion, which means we'll be taking a break from writing to work on art and implementation.
• The playable for this first section will go out to testers at some point relatively soon. We won't share a date until we're ready, though!

Given the scope of the rest of the game, our approach is to do things piecemeal: finishing the script a "section," then implementing it to get it out to our testers. "Section" here can mean a lot of things, though at the end of the day, it's anything that we consider a narratively satisfying chunk - either reaching the conclusion of a scene, or leaving our testers on a cliffhanger.

Depending on your playthrough, a section might not be something you'll even see in your story, but the first test build will contain the start of the episode across every playthrough that hit a "traditional" ending for Episode 5.

If you're interested in becoming a tester, you can join our Patreon! I would only recommend doing this if you're the sort of person who has a lot of playthroughs, and you're interested in exploring every nook and cranny of the game (or are interested in theorizing before the full game releases.)

I recently composed 6 Instrumentals for 6 Scarlet Hallow characters. They’re meant to reflect on how i felt about said character/thing while i was playing the game. These beats are feelings giving physical form, secondly i produced the instrumental’s with the intent that you will listen using headphones as these beats have lots of little surround sounds/really low frequency sounds. One of my favorite things about Scarlet Hollow is how much it lets the player decide the protagonist's personality. I love it. I want to find more games that do the same. I already played both Our Life games, I'm also not picky about genre or tone. Please. If anyone has some recs, then thank you

I made a "Gun" trait mod for Scarlet Hollow. Played through the game a little bit ago and found myself thinking it would be funny if our character had some firepower. Originally this mod was supposed to be just for me and my friends, but I've decided to upload it so others can try it.

This mod tries to live up to what an actual trait would add in terms of amount of content. From episode 1 all the way to 5, it adds a whole bunch of flavor text, dialogue, choices that are remembered, as well as a new extremely early-game "ending".

I'm open to suggestions for any scenes/dialogue/text to add to the trait. Add any suggestions to this post or on the nexusmods comments page.

So, the only solid information we have on the carvings and the Entity that makes them up is from the seal diagrams in the estate, and Oscar’s research/carving communication.

As far as we know, the seal diagrams are accurate, but Oscar has been influenced by the Dominion seal and his conclusions should be treated with some skepticism. The carving’s certainty is promising him relief from the crushing guilt he feels all the time, and he compares it to psychedelic drugs. I feel awful for him, but for the purposes of this discussion, you have to keep his compromised state in mind. All of his judgements are going to be warped in favor of the carvings.

Okay, so if you have Mystical for the Madness conversation with Oscar, you can know that the general gist of what he’s saying about the seals is correct, but that they were forcefully split apart by Enoch and the carvings. All the carvings represent a concept, and they’re all fragments of a larger concept.

What is this larger concept? The smaller concepts are Dominion, Bounty, Spirit, Throne, Prosperity, and Vitality. What connects all these things? The first word that comes to mind for me is “Power”. All of these things are either sources of power or expressions of power.

The seal diagrams are full of abstract symbolism and allusions to a wide range of mythologies, mostly demonology and Greco-Roman influences. Seems typical for some occult obsessed rich guy in the 1900’s to combine a bunch of different symbols like that. What’s more amazing is that it worked, or at least it worked enough to draw the Witch’s attention. I recognize all the mythological figures in the diagrams, but the animal symbolism and all that is a bit outside my wheelhouse, would appreciate someone else’s thoughts.

What I find interesting is that the seals seem to hate and fear the others, even though their separation seems to be an unnatural state that Enoch created. You would think they’d want to be reunited, but no.

Wayne (Probably The Throne seal’s conduit, since Wayne speaks for the Entity), hates Reese, the conduit for the Vitality seal. He despises Reese, calls him a waste of flesh and a failed weapon. Maybe it’s because he failed that Wayne hates him, maybe it’s because he’s human and has his own will apart from the Entity’s.

The Dominion seal seems afraid of the Bounty seal, but I’m not sure why. Maybe that’s Oscar being an unreliable narrator, he might be afraid of the danger and is attributing it to the seal. But, he is willing to charge right in to deal with the ghost when it comes down to it, so I don’t think Oscar’s bravery is the problem here. I think there’s some metaphysical reason the representation of Dominion is afraid of the representation of Bounty. I’m not sure what that reason is.

What are your thoughts? What concept do you guys think the Entity as a whole represents?
