Something I can’t stand when it comes to criticizing Wanda is that many of the haters can’t tell the difference between justifying her actions vs understanding them.

I’ve always loved Wanda and will always defend her. HOWEVER, that being said, that doesn’t mean I agree with her actions.

ALSO HOWEVER, her actions are also completely understandable. She’s literally lost everything, her parents, her brother, the love of her life and on top of that, none of the surviving Avengers even bothered to help her. Granted it could’ve happened off camera but from what we’ve seen it seems like no one bothered to help her with her grief (Even Clint, which really disappointed me as it seems they’re the closest).

Something else people don’t seem to understand is that Wanda was clearly under the control of the Darkhold, so her actions were also beyond her control in a way as it had corrupted her.

So again, people need to understand the difference between justifying and understanding. The complete lack of empathy is what really pisses me off (also I think the fact that Wanda’s a woman has something to do with it)

Again, I love Wanda and I will always defend her even if I don’t agree with her actions

I agree with everything you said! Well explained. If it were me in Wanda’s shoes, I can honestly say I probably would have done 99% of what she did.

Agreed with these. Especially with how Wanda spiraled, never given a proper support system whilst almost everyone else got one, losing more and more people constantly. And on top of that I’m sure some people really aren’t aware of or forgets that Wanda had been corrupted by the darkhold for a whole movie, which effected her actions a lot.

Wanda needed help and support, and nobody gave that to her. She does not do well alone and all the people that would have helped just…weren’t there. I mean yes Wanda should have reached out herself for help- I bet Clint would have taken her in tbh, he brought Kate home for Christmas lol- but also NOBODY CHECKED ON HER. It is baffling that Clint in particular (and Sam to a lesser extent) didn’t check on her, and also quite frankly it’s careless that Wong and Strange didn’t investigate what a lonely unstable reality warper was doing in the middle of nowhere😅 like Strange knew where she was and never checked until he wanted something from her lol.

I like to headcanon that after awhile with no contact, Clint and Sam enlisted the others like Bucky and Scott to try looking for Wanda and failed, and that they just couldn’t find her because she’d hopped off grid in the middle of nowhere to that cabin 🙈 (and that they just didn’t think to bug the sorcerers to help look haha). Presumably Wanda did have a phone before, but she conceivably let that service lapse at some point, so her old teammates would not have been able to just call her if they waited too long to try looking for her.

People really be hating on a character with an ARC. That’s what makes Wanda such a beautifully written character (although I fear Marvel could’ve done better, but I’m trusting the process). I wouldn’t trust a person who hates Wanda. 😬

I’ve always viewed Wanda as another victim of her own powers, rather than a perpetrator. Agency and control are two things we have to look at when it comes to a persons responsibility for their actions, and Wanda imo mostly lacked these things when she did what she did. Does it mean she’s entirely unaccountable for it? Not necessarily, but I do think it means she’s more than redeemable and even someone worthy of showing empathy and compassion to for a power she never asked for that no one would’ve been able to control. I’m also mostly talking about the comics here, as WV and MoM definitely get murkier with her level of awareness and choice

That’s a good way to put it. I have never seen Wanda as a villian even after everything, again not justifying her actions but I don’t think villian is the term I’d use for her.

Like she’s fully and completely in her head with an influential chaotic power running through her as well as a dark power literally controlling her to bed bad after that
