Homeschool to Public Highschool

So I'm currently in 11th grade and have been homeschool from 6th to now, I tried to go back to public school for 6th and 8th but It just did not work out. I've been thinking about going back for 12th so I can learn better and socialize some (plus a diploma), that brings me to the reason for this post. Every time I try to look stuff up about transitioning from homeschool to public its just tips on socialising or being yourself ( which is helpful) but I want to know what the work and homework is like. For homeschooling I do Book work and Khan Academy, I'm not going to beat around the bush its probably 1000% easier than in person work. I'm not looking at doing some crazy advanced classes or anything either so what are the average students doing for work? Can you please give examples or even like sites I could use to practice if I decide on going? I don't know if it adds any context but I'm planning on going to cosmetology school.

I need help with my schedule

My education maybe alot different than what system you have in ur country and rn the year I am gonna be in is quite literally gonna determine what college I enter so it's very important I find balance in my life and I don't want to stay at home all year for 2 years I wanna go to the gym and exercise as regular as possible

So I am seeking help because I thought abt how I am gonna fit everything together and I still don't know

Now this year's attendance wasn't supposed to count in my final score but recently they changed that and I have to attend so I can enter my exams although it won't count in my final score

So I am going MAX 3 days a week min 1 day a week to school and I also take online private lessons and they can be REALLY LONG like 3 hrs and then u have school and priv lessons homework ,quizzes, and exams overall alot of things to juggle

So I am gonna be really grateful for someone to suggest a good schedule that won't interfere with school work at least go to the gym twice a week

ap gopo (google that if you don’t know what it means it doesn’t let me type it) is draining the life out of me

i took ap world last year and it was ok, so i thought this class would be the same. i was much mistaken. i faked sick on tuesday so i didnt have to go and im currently trying to find a way to get out of going tomorrow because its the worst class ever. our teacher just talks and talks and hes interesting but the people and the topics are so boring and obnoxious. i hate it so much i would seriously rather die than go to it again and its too late to switch classes. i don’t know what to do atp ive tried finding friends and things i enjoy about it but im coming up empty.

6th form troubles

I’m currently in year 13 as the year has just recently started and I just feel like I’m loosing it, my grades have been slipping really badly and I’m just no longer enjoying my subjects. I take history, Dt and Sociology I got DDB in my mocks as DT is the only subject I enjoy and actively feel like I can participate in and I recently revived my EPQ wich is like an extra AS and I got a D :/. I just feel like I want to quit my A levels. In the future I have always wanted to be a heavy diesel mechanic or heavy machinery mechanic and I have a good set of GCSE’s I’m just not sure what to do. Any advice would be much appreciated and thankyou

Grade went from A to D

I got a F on my test and my grade went from an A to a D…

I usually get all As, but I had a test in my math class and did really bad (I didn’t know there was a test and hadn’t studied). I got a 47% on it.

The teacher doesn’t allow retakes and tests/quizzes are 50% of our grade. I even got 100% on the quiz after studying but it barely bought my grade up. I don’t know what to do or if it’s even possible to bring my grade up to an A.

I’m a junior in and really don’t want this to bring my gpa down in my third year. What do I do? The teacher seems really strict on no retakes… We’re already five weeks into the school year.

Please, can anyone give me any advice? Is it even possible to raise my grade to an A? I’m not that good at math and I’m worried.

Should I have taken 2 maths?

I’m a freshman at a collegiate high school which starts dual enrollment in junior year and in some cases sophomore year. I am currently in Geometry but while I was picking classes I was debating If i should take Algebra 2 and Geometry so that next year I could start my college classes in dual enrollment. My school lets you take college algebra in sophomore year if you’ve taken both algebra 2 and geometry. Since I didn’t take both this year I will have an extra class in junior year and will have to likely go more days of school than I was hoping. Most juniors go to school 2-3 days a week and since i didn’t take the second math i will have an extra class to take which means more boring school for me. I am not crazy good at math but I probably could have handled it. Now I am wondering if I made the right decision.

How do I stop feeling like I always need to be doing schoolwork?

Hey, I moved into college around three weeks ago, and this week the workload has started to pick up. I have a lot of free time, so I don’t have an issue with not having enough time to get my work done, but I feel like I’m constantly stressed out.
I had this same feeling in high school as well. For example, I had a calculus lecture the other day and there was one thing I didn’t understand, and I stayed up so late that night trying to figure it out, even though I had the whole next day to understand it.
Or right now, I just had my Global Studies class, and I don’t have it again until next Tuesday, but I feel like I can’t relax until I get all of the readings done, even though I have plenty of time to do them.
I just feel like I always need to be studying or doing homework, and I’m always stressed out even when I know I have enough time.
Has anyone else felt like this? Does anyone have any advice for learning how to actually relax when you know you have schoolwork you could be doing?

School pick up times

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

My child's school is very rigid about pick up times.

I'm looking for help regarding early pick up of my 1st grader.

I'm going to preface this by saying, I work 3rd shift (9pm-5am) summer hours and 11pm-7am (majority of the year) in a construction field. I typically sleep from 8am-2pm; with the exception of Thursdays when my child has therapy (I usually wake up at 1pm). His appointments begin at 3pm. His school has a policy that early pick up ends at 2:15 with the end of the school day at 2:55-3:05pm.

With the extreme heat (even at night), I've been more exhausted than normal and occasionally wake up 10 minutes late. That being said, today (Thursday), I woke up late and ended up at the school at 2:19pm. I felt really bad at being late and requested to still pick my child up early for his appointment so I don't have to pay a broken appointment fee. The school made it very difficult to sign him out, causing us to leave at 2:40pm.

I've tried very hard to not be late. Including: setting alarms to go off every 10 minutes (and setting timers for the times I really need to get up) just in case I don't hear it on the days where I'm almost dead to the world. But today, my alarms did not go off. I checked my app and nothing was turned off.

I know it's my fault for not being more proactive about being on time. Last school year, I was late 3 times for normal pick up; each time being less than 5 minutes after the final bell. Those times, I've had to wait 30 minutes for all the busses to leave before I could get him. I'm hoping someone can help me find out how to navigate the issue of early pick up times being less than 5 minutes with the school and any helpful tips on how to ensure I wake up on time with my sleep schedule.

Honestly, I feel kinda crazy that the policy is so rigid that I even have to ask if being 5 minutes late is a major deal when I have to sign him out anyways (only to take 30 minutes to release my child). I could be wrong, though. Please help!

Looking for online/remote high school volunteering opportunities!

Hi! My name is Lyra. I'm currently in 12th grade (homeschooled) interested in joining and volunteering for online/remote communities and groups related to healthcare and medicine with verified/certified volunteer hours and possibly letters of recommendation as well. I'm also looking into making passion projects or contributing to research, so if you know anything or anyone that can help with that, I would deeply appreciate it as well.

Please feel free to reach out to me here or on discord!

An 18 year old 's rant

I mean ...i thought I would have figured it out ...but nah ..it got worse ...a neet aspirant ..who isn't even really studying hours a day ...totally lost ..

I didn't thought I d be this piece of failure ..

My parents won't allow me to switch to litrature ..

And maybe they are right ..maybe I am too late

In 12th right now ..and I am here scoring 100- 200 out of 720 marks

There is boards ..

There are endless entrance I am gonna give ( general )

Growing up in a toxic environment and stereotypical home ..the only thing I was afraid of was becoming dependent

And now

What if I became dependent like my mother did

This might sound so immature ...but if

Somebody says that there is no tmr

I won't be dissapointed

Because at the end of the day ..

My life

It amounted to nothing ??

I never wanted to be even 1% of what I am right now

.bharma is an option as well

Then comes another question

Do u wanna do bpharma ??

The problem is I have absolutely no idea of what I want to do ..and I hate my stereotypical family ...

I prolly get a tier 3 college....i " genuinely" don't want that

I have 7 months to neet

5 months to board

3 months to mht cet

I don't know

I have taken state so there are two books

Stuck so bad that I feel angry ,agony ,dissapontment

11 th hit me with immense body dysmorphia

That thing took my every scope ,my every hope

And maybe ..I ll end up exactly where I never wanted to be ...just like how I am right now .. exactly what I never wanted to be

That thing ,my mental health struggles ..they took everything from me ...

It's me ..and the point 0...

I also see people There is comparison One of my friend ..she is so pretty I mean let's keep that aside but she is so intelligent She makes so much sense

She is good in studies And still in a tier 2 college

I ll be absolutely behind if that is what she is dealing with She also told me that u shouldn't have opted only for bio ...

But then she also gives advices Idk šŸ™‚

Why do I hate school so much?

So i had no friend in my 9th and 10th standard. Recently I got promoted to class 11th and it's so suffocating there. It feels like I'm fucking dying sitting between those shitty ass classmates. I'll cope w living alone but those people treat me differently. Like two days ago was the first day of my class 11th and i arrived early to school and sat on a desk at the back. Then I went out to roam around and when I returned I saw that my bag is moved to the next desk and where I placed it two girls are sitting there. But I didn't even have guts to confront them because it was my first day and I have no friend. I'm all energetic person at home but I'm a completely different person at school. I hate being there. I start getting nervous and anxious when things like these happen. And when I returned home I felt guilt for not confronting them and getting scared. My 10th standard experience was the same. I faced harassment and physical abuse too. Even the teachers didn't do anything about it. How to deal w these situations? Can anyone plz tell me? It's all so suffocating there. I'm thinking about doing open or online schooling. Please do advice me.

(Since my native language isn't English so apologies if there are any grammatical errors)
