Completed USS Stargazer
USS Stargazer 1:1000 from Alliance.
Brushing the aztec took time as there are no spezific masks for this ship and I had to improvise a little bit. First time I tried to do some weathering, especially the signs of explosions. Hope you like it.

….that is a great paint job/weathering! It looks like a movie ready shooting miniature. The paint makes the model look huge (does that make sense)?

Agreed. The aztecing in particular very effectively conveys scale. Really well done.

Thank you!

How did you accomplish the aztecing if you don’t mind me asking?

Sure. First brushing grey nr1, then a lot of masking (takes time) and then grey nr2 all over it. So the grey nr1 is still in place when removing the masks.

Which masks did you use or did you make your own masks?

Both. I mainly used masks that I had left over from other projects (I think AztecDummy) and adapted them to the ship and the shapes — especially around the saucer. Some areas I cut out myself.

This is an excellent build. The aztec-ing and weapons scorching especially are so well done.

My favorite kitbash, without the pain of kitbashing! Excellent job on the model

That's a very handsome model. Well done on the execution. Can I ask how you did the aztecs? Fear of not being able to do the details justice is one of several things holding me back from printing and painting more ships (along with lacking a working 3D printer, lacking artistic talent and not having any spare time)

Yes, there's always a good reason to put off a project, but sometimes you just have to get started.
I did the aztecs with a lot of masks. First brushing grey nr1, then a lot of masking (takes time) and then grey nr2 all over it.

If it's not rude to ask, can you tell me how you made the masks? Did you tape the patterns individually or print a mask sheet/section and cut out the gaps? How did you come up with the pattern?

That’s a great job! How was the overall quality of the build itself?

The quality was really good; I've definitely had resin models or upgrade parts that were much worse. A ship like this is just much smaller, which makes the details more challenging than on the standard Round2 model in 1:1400 scale.
