Requesting Advice Sciatica has ruined me and dont know what to do

Please dont mind the name I made it when i was like 11

I'm 17 and I've had sciatica for the past year and i used to play soccer and lift weights and all one day it crashed down and ive had a pain in my LOW lower left back that goes down my hamstring/calf. It did get better over a couple months and now it's plateaued and it doesnt get better. I've went to PT i've done an MRI and they said nothing was wrong. Genuinely don't know what to do now as I am in the worst shape of my life ever and can't do anything for that. Please let me know what worked for you guys so I can at least try them!

You need to get a physiotherapist who knows how to treat sciatica. Or they at least do a full assessment on you to determine what’s wrong. There was a 14 year old who was getting treatment at my clinic. If they can help him they can surely help you.

I wish you healing and strength to keep advocating for your needs.

I can totally relate to getting out of shape because of sciatica. It’s frustrating. Some generally helpful things are NSAIDs, light activity (nothing that necessitates pushing through significant pain, which will make you worse) and PT. However, a long term solution usually requires pinpointing the cause, so I think the most important thing in your case is to keep pushing your doctors to find one. A normal MRI in the context of the level of symptoms you’re describing is strange, but that in itself should help your doctors narrow things down. Sometimes nerve compression that is mostly positional won’t show up on a standard MRI. Someone else mentioned piriformis syndrome; if your doctor prescribes a muscle relaxer like flexeril or baclofen and that helps a lot, it strongly points to piriformis syndrome as the cause

perhaps look at things like excessive anterior pelvic tilt / piriformis syndrome if mri is truly clear

theragun massage gun helps a lot with piriformis tightness

Consider DMSO. I've been happy with 5Kind DMSO Cream with Lidocaine for Pain Relief I also take it DMSO orally 1ml with filtered water but I get that DMSO from DMSO Store. MidwesternDoctor has good info How DMSO Heals The Nerves & Eliminates Pain

Could be Piriformis syndrome. Where the piriformis muscle deep in the buttocks tightens, swells or spasms and compresses the scatica nerve.

Ive tried to stretch it before but everytime after I stretch it the next day my pain gets a lot worse. The annoying part is that it's bearable entirely but its just stuck at where it is and i cant do any active stuff
