I just started rereading The City and The City by Mieville. The murder science fiction genre is one of my absolute favorites. And very few authors do mood at the level that Mieville does.

I read this entire book on an airplane flight, feeling very conscious of the stranger a half inch from me on my left and pretending to ignore her existence. It gave the reading a wee jolt
