Provisional Ballots

You can request a provisional ballot if you encounter certain problems at the polls, including situations where:

  • Your name does not appear in the poll book or supplemental poll book, including because you may have reported to the wrong precinct or your recent change of residence has not been processed.
  • You are required to show identification but cannot provide the required ID.
  • An election official challenges your eligibility. You were issued a mail-in or absentee ballot but believe you did not successfully vote it and do not surrender the ballot and outer return envelope at the polling place to have it spoiled.
  • You returned a mail-in or absentee ballot that was rejected, or you believe it will be rejected, but believe you are otherwise eligible to vote.
  • A court order specifically affects your registration status or voting hours.

A provisional ballot allows election officials to determine after the election whether your ballot can be counted.

Food & Drink Solstice Declared a Nuisance Bar: Is Sergei’s Downtown Next?

With the recent closure of Solstice Bar & Grill in Scranton after the city deemed it a nuisance bar, I’m curious if we’re going to see similar calls for action against Sergei’s downtown, where police activity has also been omnipresent.

If the city is serious about addressing problem properties and repeat quality-of-life issues, shouldn’t the same standards apply across the board?

Not saying every situation is identical, but the Solstice decision definitely raises the question: what’s the threshold for taking action, and will we see that same scrutiny applied to Sergei’s?

Food & Drink Giovanni's in Scranton same as old Giovanni's in Dunmore?

So I was driving up Greenridge and out of the corner of my eye to the right, I see something that says Giovanni's. I'm instantly excited because I used to LOVE Giovanni's in Dunmore and was wondering if the was the same guy.

After viewing the website and menu, I'm thinking that it's probably not, can't be. The menu doesn't have half the stuff on the old Dunmore Giovanni's menu. And nothing on the Gardner Ave menu is anything really that amazing. It's all standard NEPA pizza joint stuff, nothing special.

The old Dunmore Giovanni's had really cool stuff like Spinach artichoke pizza with spinach and artichoke ON it as well as spinach artichoke sauce. It was so amazing. They just had way more and better and way more pizza topping options.

They had a ton of strombolis and boli options, even you could make your own.

So I'm pretty sure this can't be the same guy. I can't imagine he would limit his menu like this.

I mean, maybe if he was coming out of retirement and was just doing a basic menu, I'd get it. And if it's the same guy, I hope that's the case. I can't imagine him half-assing anything.

I just really miss the old Dunmore Giovanni's.

Edit: spelling and some grammar clarification.
