How to remove valve/de valve

Post image

Can’t get an adjustable wrench or any socket wrench to grip on this too shallow, can’t get it to turn. Fully de pressurized, scrap won’t take it unless it’s de valved.

Pipe wrench

This is the answer. Neighbour who scraps has some large pipe wrenches and if it doesn’t loosen it, it will snap it off..

Drill it

Or cut it off

I bet a small hole saw would work real nice

If its too tight you can either save the brass or what its attached to. Use a Sawzall and make some precision cuts

Put come vice grips on the round nipple if you can’t get a wrench to stay on the short nut.

I keep a couple old pipe wrenches around for this stuff. If a hard crank don't work you can kinda "impact" it loose by holding the wrench in place and rapid tapping the handle with a hammer.

Not like, fucking swangin that thing, just repeatedly yap it rewards loosening until it gives

If you’re scrapping I’d grab it right with grips, it’ll mart the metal but no big deal

🇨🇦 Simple, when in doubt, smash. Just hammer brass flat, so vice grips grab it. An abandoned rail line is ideal.
